J.B. Tix...What you pay back in the day??

Post by Dr.Corona »

I've saved most of my concert ticket stubs since the early 80's. [smilie=graytard.gif]
My first Buffett show wasn't until 2001 (and that ticket stub is not handy right now) so I'd imagine the price wasn't that out of whack with what we're paying these days.
I know we've got plenty of lonnnnng-timers here dating back to the 90's, 80's & even the 70's. Just curious what pholks can remember paying back in the day to see JB. And I'm talking the better seats, not your nose-bleeders that still can be had rather cheaply.
I believe my oldest stubs dating back to about 1980 for bands such as Blue Oyster Cult, Loverboy, Fleetwood Mac & the like showed a price of $12-$15. I do remember my first arena concerts in '75-'77 would go for about $7.50 a tic. :o

I've only had lawn tickets. So I guess that's not what you're looking for. But any way, I paid around $25 for my first JB concert in 97 or 98.

Pretty sure it was $26 in 1991. Much closer to the stage than I have any chance of getting now (without going through a broker).

I just checked, I paid $59.50 for a 3rd row orchestra seat in 2001. That same seat today is probably about $150, or more, w/TM charges.

My first Buffett show back in the '80s was $20.

$6.00 and my college ID got me into King's Dominion Park outside of Richmond, Va.
back in the summer of '79 or so. Might have been '80.

That six bucks got me all the park rides plus a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Not a bad deal.

I believe my date paid $8.50(ea) at the door, about 5 minutes before the show started and we had 11th row center seats. Tower Theater, Upper Darby PA. June/July 1977. Didn't save stubs back then! :x

I paid $6 a ticket, around 1974-75 at Merriweather Post Pavilion, in Columbia, Maryland. I think that may have been the You Had to Be There Tour. A great time for sure.

I remember going to a Buffett show in 1993 or '94 at the Leon County Civic Center in Tallahassee, FL and paying $30 for a ticket. Seventeen years later (and I've got the hair to prove it [smilie=giggle.gif]), we're going to the show in Camden on the 7th of August. We bought the tickets on TicketsNow and spent $250 per seat. That's what is called i-nn-fff-LLLL-AAAAA-TTTTTT-IIIIIII-OOOOOOOO-NNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! [smilie=cwl.gif]

a lawn seat in 1987 to Pine Knob was $16.50 with the surcharge (yep, just ONE surcharge back then...) I'm not even sure you can buy a drink for that now :)

Have a few pavillion seats from 1990 and 91 and I paid just under $25.00 for them. Those were the days, huh?
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Paid $8.50 for ticket to concert in Tuscaloosa in 1982, it was general admission but was able to make it to the row 11 in center of stage.
