Dear A.S.S.

You're right Jimmy has opinions of his own.....but you're wrong that it's his job is to entertain you. Jimmy sings from the heart, as seen last night when he sang new lyrics to "When the Coast is Clear". Anyone who watched saw that Jimmy had a hard time singing it as he was choked up.
If you, or anyone else finds his music entertaining, that is great, but to make that music he has to write and sing from his heart, with opinions that may or may not match your own. My advice...BIBOMO, enjoy the music and forget the rest, 'cause life is too short.

Dear Annoyed, Sad, Steamed,
I have family members that have different political beliefs. In fact our rather large family
is pretty much equally split between "conservative" and "liberal". You may not agree, but let
them have their say. If you want to argue be prepared for a long drawn out "discussion" that
will not change anyone's opinion. The best thing is to just ignore it, move onto another subject,
and remember what you really like about the other person, politics aside. Life is too short.

Dear Annoyed....

Perhaps you could ask Rush Limbaugh to learn to sing and play guitar and begin to tour. Then you could enjoy your music without compromising your politics. :P

Or maybe just accept that Jimmy is an individual with a life besides his music and allow him the grace to live it as he sees fit.

If you dwell on this you will be unhappy. Life is too short for unhappy.

Tipsy

Note to Big John agreeing with your post above....My closest family member is pretty much the opposite of me when it comes to politics. We have accepted that we cannot change each other's opinions and it only causes grief to try. So MOST of the time we agree to disagree and stay away from politics. The occasional slip up is frustrating to both of us...long drawn out discussion, nobody changes her mind, and we both end up unhappy. Life it too short for unhappy....

Well I never thought
That me and my girlfriend would ever get caught
We were sitting in the back seat just shooting the breeze

If you spend all your time and efforts arguing and fighting with others because of their differing political views, the REAL issues never enter, even avoid, the conversation. And somehow I think that’s exactly what the politicians prefer. If we spend all our time and energy fighting and bickering amongst ourselves over differing paradigms, then we can never find any common ground and work together to address the real problems, not the ideology and the vocabulary. Divide and concur seems to be working well.

In this case, spell-check wouldn't have helped. "Concur" is a legitimate word and was spelled correctly; it was just the wrong word.
Now, if somebody ever comes up with *GRAMMAR-check*......

my favorite quote from "The American President"

"America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country can't just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the "land of the free".
