Glad to hear, but I'm sure not jumping for joy until it holds for a few months....or years. But at least it is a bit of good news.

MSNBC:
The stoppage came 85 days, 16 hours and 25 minutes after the first report April 20 of an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that killed 11 workers and triggered the spill.

So we wait 48 hours to see if it doesn't rupture down the line...then it's opened up again. Forgive me for not cheering, but it's too little, too late.

I'm dang happy about it!!! The Ixtoc blowout took 10 months to cap.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

Re: YAY! BP: No oil leaking into Gulf from busted well...
This is what bothers me, which yahoo failed to mention:
So yes, we'll maybe have 48 hours of no oil flowing from the well (per BP), which is good, but a drop in the bucket compared to what's already out there. How much more oil will spew after the 48 hours are up? I guess I'm just too jaded from the Valdez disaster, and seeing that BP isn't doing all they can do in the cleanup effort. Trust me, nothing would make me happier than to have BP prove me wrong (well, other than being able to turn back time and prevent the whole thing from happening in the first place).BP cautioned that the oil cutoff, while welcomed, won't go beyond the 48 hours. Valves will open after that to resume siphoning oil to two ships on the surface, the Q4000 and Helix Producer, as government and BP officials assess the data and decide what to do next.

Hopefully someone looks into sealing the cracks in the well as well (just so that those don't blow and start a bigger catastrophe (if that's even possible)

This is what bothers me, which yahoo failed to mention:
It's not a problem if it's siphoned off to surface ships. They're not opening the valves into the gulf. All of the oil coming from the well would make it to the ships since this cap doesn't leak (at least not yet).BP cautioned that the oil cutoff, while welcomed, won't go beyond the 48 hours. Valves will open after that to resume siphoning oil to two ships on the surface, the Q4000 and Helix Producer, as government and BP officials assess the data and decide what to do next.
