Your First Buffett Show
I am curious about when and where people (aka Parrotheads) went to their first Buffett show. Please include the year of your first Buffett show, the name of the tour (I found the above tour link helpful), and the name of the venue. I think it could be really interesting to find out how long people (aka Parrotheads) have been going to Buffett shows and how many of us started off at the same venue. I'll begin, and please add your info to this post.
Year: I went to my first Buffett show in the summer of 1984 or 1985.
Tour: So, the tour would have been either the Feeding Frenzy Tour or the Sleepless Knights Tour.
Venue: Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, Maryland
Please add your info to this post.
Thanks,
capnbobby

1990 Jimmy Jump Up Tour, Lake Compounce, Bristol, CT. I worked there and so didn't go to the concert as much as walk through it on my way to clock out and go home. I happened to walk through as he was doing the "sermon" about dropping catalogs and money on Russia, and as such it didn't make any sense and I didn't get it.
The following year, The Outpost Tour, Merriweather Post Pavilion. I went with friends who had been going for a few years and had an absolute blast. Needless to say, I got it that time.

2005 - Salty Piece of Land Tour
Great Woods, MA (by then it was Tweeter Center)
I had gone on a trip to KW in 2004 and the person I made my hotel reservations with told me to listen to some Buffett before coming down. Turned out a co-worker is a huge PH and she introduced me to it all. As she is fond of saying I've "taken it to a whole 'nother level"
I've never been the same!

My best and oldest friend Ike introduced me to Buffett's music in the summer of '84. A quarter of a century later, I'm still doing this.ScarletB wrote:Relative newbie here

I kind of miss Merriweather Post Pavilion. I went to my first few Buffett shows there. I think a lot of people saw Jimmy for the first time at Merriweather. A great old venue!popcornjack wrote:1990 Jimmy Jump Up Tour, Lake Compounce, Bristol, CT. I worked there and so didn't go to the concert as much as walk through it on my way to clock out and go home. Re: Your First Buffett Show
It was September 21, 1994 and I was going to be 46 years old in October. My sister and a friend who I had gone to The Woodlands with before suggested we do the Buffett show at The Woodlands to celebrate my birthday.
In July I had been drinking in a bar in Port Aransas with a group of educator friends on retreat and the guy playing his guitar in the bar played lots of Buffett, and I liked it a lot. So a special friend gave me ONE PARTICULAR HARBOUR and FRUITCAKES, since it had just been released, and I went a little crazy for the music and feelings the lyrics evoked. The Fruitcakes Tour was my first.
46 shows later, I'm still going strong. I hope to make it to at least 66 shows by my 66th birthday 20 years later in 2014 and then we'll just see if I can keep up with my age until I finally fade away...

Jimmy and Fingers performed two songs out on the lawn and came running down the aisle right by our seats on the way to the stage.
The next night we were up near the front row.

I don't think he named tours then. He was this wild and crazy blond hippy guy, who was extremely entertaining.

Re: Your First Buffett Show
I remember the Havana Daydreamin' Tour. That year I saw Jimmy in West Palm Beach, FL. It was one of my alltime favorite shows, rather healing for me. I still have the concert T-shirt from that tour, which is in pretty good shape for being over ten years old. Perhaps I'll break it out for the show in Camden on the 7th.Bob Roberts wrote:Havana Daydreamin’ Tour

It's kind of cool that many of us were introduced to Buffett's music by a friend.
