Tinctures?

Tinctures?
Anyone out there use tinctures? If you do, do you make your own or purchase. Do you use other herbal remedies as well? Just curious I've been studying up on medicinal plants and herbs and I find the medicinal attributes of some plants interesting. I'm not looking to cure any ills right now, actually I am very lucky the last med I took was 25 years ago when I had my wisdom teeth removed...this includes aspirin.

OK so I have some thoughts on this, the "herbal/Natural"
thing is great.. IF you keep your
wits about you. the "clean living" bunch has as many or more
fakers and fakes as the "Real Doctors"
I have watched my Parents take stuff that worked.. and some that did not (and some of the stuff that did not made things worse)
beware of the ones that mostly tell you how much better their stuff
is then the "other guys" not what their stuff does that is good or what
it will help with..
anytime they feature how healthy their stuff is "because it comes from nature"
just remember . So does Rattlesnake Venom
all in all .. do the leg work and you should be alright..

Wayne I don't see any reason for you to be wearing the flame proof suit.
What you said was good common sense stuff.

There are good folks and goofy ones in *every* profession. Including the Western medical one.ragtopW wrote:(dressing in flame proof gear)

In my personal, not-so-humble opinion, hospitals killed both my parents. Natural meds probably wouldn't have helped in either case...but the same dose of caution one uses with naturopathic remedies should also be used when dealing with the medical profession.
Back to the OP, I can actually recommend "Herbal Remedies for Dummies." It's a very well-written book. Beyond the basics, there are quite a few books out there. Read a few, try out remedies *carefully*, and the stuff that works, work it into a conscious health maintenance routine.

one more thing.. when you do go to a "real" Doctor (and I hope for your long and good health)
tell them what you are taking..
do not hide the "other" stuff..
it could make things worse.. or even kill you

Just remember that natural remedies, herbal supplements and even foods can have negative interactions with prescription medications, so never use supplements without your physician's knowledge and consent if you are being treated for medical issues.
