According to a spokesperson for WeddingChannel.com, the couple met at a Jimmy Buffett concert in 2007 when McKenna was home on two weeks leave from Iraq. Lucier said her father, who had known McKenna for years through hockey and work, invited McKenna along for the concert that Lucier was also attending and sparks flew between them.

Jimmy shows up, unannounced, and when the band kicks into Margaritaville or whatever at the reception he comes onstage and does the vocal....... And then from there jams with the band the rest of the night. I'm pretty sure whatever the band played, Jimmy could keep up with 'em.
Wouldn't that be awesome? -"BB"-

I may be in the minority here, but this kind of stuff p isses me off. I don't care if they met at a JB concert or on the moon, $100,000 for a wedding at any time, let alone this time of economic meltdown, is beyond irresponsible. And that's not even factoring in the likelihood of this marriage lasting in this age of divorce. It's this kind of excess that has gotten our country in trouble. That money could have gone to support much more deserving causes, such as folks who have gotten laid off or victims of natural disasters, etc.

dSpending that money will be good for the economy. Will help businesses earn money. ..more than if the couple paid for it themselves.

A few businesses that probably aren't hurting for money? Sorry, I just don't see it. In the scheme of life I just don't see it making a major difference. What I do see is more and more people thinking that they have to have very extravagant weddings, and going into debt to do so. People trying to live well beyond their means is what got us into this mess in the first place.
Guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one, Mal.
IMHO, weddings, and some people's excessive spending, are ridiculous. But that's just me. I've been married a few times, and never spent more than $1000.
