For someone who has never been there but is planning a trip threre to visit the new beach hotel. What do you recommend to do? Yes, we agree the hotel would be enough of a destination but besides that......your thoughts please!!

Yes, make sure you climb to the top of the lighthouse, go to Lulu's and the Flora-Bama. :D

We were there in mid-August, and though we spent the majority of our time at the hotel, we also went to Gulf Shores to go to LuLu's (as some have already suggested doing), and we walked the long boardwalk (the one you can see from the beach at the Margaritaville Hotel). It's $1 for an all day pass, and you can see some interesting things while you're out there. We saw lots of different fish, and the view is amazing. Other than that, there's shopping nearby, and several restaurants. A drive around the area is fun, too. We did this, and enjoyed looking at all of the brightly colored beach houses.

You'll find plenty of night life on Pensacola Beach. Several clubs offering live entertainment. Lulu's in Gulf Shores and Florabama on the state line are must do's. Also, if you have an interest in naval aviation history, the Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola Naval Air Station is a full day of phun. To your east, Destin, the world's luckiest fishing village, is about 45 minutes away on Hyw. 98.
