no he did not catch them in the act.. He went to the Teens house
to confront him..

On the other hand, the kid should be glad he's alive and can walk.
Resisting arrest can get one hurt and an unscrupulous cop could have done worse and claimed any injuries were because he resisted.
Just sayin'........

The girl is 14, that's statutory rape. Will the guy have to register as a sex offender?

I like the last line:
When the boy was asked by the Mercury News if he had any thoughts about teenage sex, he said that he "wouldn't recommend it."
I'm gonna guess, he really meant to say was that he "wouldn't recommend it
with a policeman's daughter."

Kid's only 15.. my understanding is for it to be Statutory rape he has to be 18 or over..

I believe there's still a case for "unlawful sexual intercourse," even though they're within 3 years' age of each other...according to one item I read. However, it doesn't fall under the guidelines of what a teacher or health worker would need to report to law enforcement in CA.
And different states have different laws.
