where to stay in San Juan

Post by caly »

We are cruising in Feb from San Juan and want to spend 2 nights after the cruise in San Juan.
We want to be between the port and the airport. We want to be close enough to do stuff on our 2 days. Must have a pool and close to the ocean would be nice. Want to keep it under $200 a night.
Any and all suggestions muchly appreciated!

We stay at either Intercontinnental or El San Juan Resort Hotel & Casino. You can catch specials on both for under$200 a night that includes a nice buffet breakfast. The area is very nice and safe for walking at night. Lots of good places to eat and along the bus route to take into Old San Juan for a few $$. About a 5 miniute drive from the airport to both hotels, beaches are also very nice in that area.

I did a cruise out of San Juan a couple of years and stayed at the San Juan Marriott. Its on the beach and was close enough to Old San Juan to take the bus.

The only place I can vouch for is the Caribe Hilton. It was awesome. I was there on a conference rate so I'm not sure what the standard rate is.

Timely thread. 8)
I'll be helping a friend move a sailboat from Sarasota, Fl to San Juan. We'll be docking December 9 ish to 11 ish...depending on sailing condidtions. So, I'll probably be there for a day or three before catching a flight back to Tampa.
All suggestions are welcome!!

EDIT
Our dates and course changed....so...no San Juan.
Leaving Dec 17. Our course now will skirt the southside of Cuba with stops in Cayman islands and then to Jamaica.
Heading back to the States Jan 9

I also stayed at the San Juan Marriott and it was lovely. It is easy to get to Old San Juan by bus. The food at the italian restaurant in the hotel was really good also.

Stay at the San Juan Marriott Stellarios Casino. As the other say it's a great spot. On the beach with pools. On site restaurant Tuscany is awesome. Can also walk a couple blocks to other bars and restaurants. When leaving hotel make a left and go a couple blocks. There is a restaurant UMO which is great. Geat an oceanview room with balcony on an upper floor. You will have a great time. Enjoy.
