Margaritaville Chicago!
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant is sailing into Navy Pier for a 10-year run.
The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, which owns and operates the pier, approved the lease Wednesday morning.
“So, we’ll have the Caribbean in February on Navy Pier,” said David Mosena, board chairman. The authority is hoping the restaurant and entertainment venue will serve as an attendance magnet year-round.
Buffett, in a prepared statement, expressed his excitement for the new venue, targeted to open next spring.
“From my earliest days in the city, playing the Quiet Knight on Belmont, to the pinnacle of live performances to me, singing in front of the ivy wall at Wrigley Field, I have had a long and wonderful history and affection for the people, the music, the art and the food of the Windy City. I have always thought of Chicago as a beach town, a pretty big one, but still a beach town.”
Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
The restaurant beat out 10 other bidders, including the current tenant in the space, Charlie’s Ale House.

How about NYC? There's a nice big empty space where the ESPN Zone restaurant used to be in Times Square. There's a smaller space 7 blocks uptown from there where the Hawaiian Tropic Zone used to be.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

Your Hawaiian Tropic Zone closed down?
I'm sure NYC is on the Margaritaville radar.

Baltimore Inner Harbor lost their ESPN Zone too. Nice waterside spot for a Margaritaville there.LIPH wrote:How about NYC? Yes, another reason to visit Chicago and friends.
I'm just wondering - for those of you who have a Margaritaville in your home town (or very close) - how often do you go there?
I go to any one I can when on business travel, but wonder if the fun wears off, or the prices don't make it worth it, for regular home town folks.
