Dolphin (not NFL) shows & swimming with dolphins..

Post by LaTda! »

Hi, This may have been covered but here it goes, I hope I don't start a controversy..

Dolphin shows, unless they are with rehabilitated animals & are not for profit, are a bloody business :(

I just learned this & wish it wasn't true.
I don't know all the details, maybe someone here knows more about it-
I'd like to learn more but here's a disturbing article I just read;

In short Dolphin for-profit shows get their dolphins from people who slaughter the not so pretty perfect ones..

I'll never go to a show now & will pay far less actually, to see them in the wild..

Despicable. Certainly. But I'm not sure your title line (Dolphin (not NFL) shows & swimming with dolphins..) is accurate.
Their are legitimate dolphin and marine animal research centers that should not be lumped with this story about dolphin hunts and slaughter.

e.g. The Dolphin Research Center in Marathon Key, Florida,
which, among other activities and studies, has a *dolphin encounter* a.k.a. *swim with the dolphins* program.

I know about that 'cool' center & the equally cool Turtle hospital. I adopted Rebel who is a permanent resident there due to injuries. I lived in Marathon for 3 months last year :wink: anyway,
My goal with the title was aimed at the people who do go to for-profit shows,
I even disclaimer'd it with the quote just above. :D
The message is important, not the semantics ;)
