Buffett 2011 Calendar?
For the past several years I have purchased my next year's Buffett calendar at Margaritaville during MOTM. I received the latest copy of the Coconut Telegraph about a week ago and there is no Buffett 2011 calendar listed. This may be old news but I have been away from Buffettnews for awhile.
Fins up and see you in Key West.

Haven't seen anything about a Buffett Calendar, but this one is a pretty cool one around here.

We were checking the Coconut Telegraph for the 2011 calendar as well. We wanted to buy it for Christmas presents. We were very disappointed not to find it.
Check on the Margaritaville website. It just might not have been included in the catalog. The odds are against it but it's worth a try.

I just quickly checked the KW M-ville site and only a Key West tourism calendar and another featuring manatees are currently shown under "Souveneirs/Home Decor".....KruzinParrots wrote:f2cdlzrd wrote:For the past several years I have purchased my next year's Buffett calendar at Margaritaville during MOTM. We tried to buy one at Margaritaville in Vegas, and they did not have them either. I really need on for my office - it keeps me smiling! Maybe we need to start asking for it! ![battingeyes [smilie=battingeyes.gif]](./images/smilies/battingeyes.gif)

Re: Buffett 2011 Calendar?
Since the show at the MGM Grand was the last stop on the "Under the Big Top" tour, maybe they were waiting until after Las Vegas so they could include pictures from that show as part of the calendar — although I would think they would still have taken orders and just not deliver until later in November/early December.

I was bummed too when I did not see the calendar in the Coco Tel or on the KW website. I emailed the KW store and their reply was "sorry Jason, not this year. It has been replaced with the Key West Calendar".

Re: Buffett 2011 Calendar?
When I was in Vegas for the show, I asked at the Margaritaville there and was told there is not going to be a calendar this year. I was shocked that one was not being done this year and the manager said he took the news the same way.
However, it looks like many of us will have to find a different means of remembering what day it is throughout 2011.

Re: Buffett 2011 Calendar?
I wonder if we could make our own calendar, using photographs taken by BNers?
I was still planning on making the 2011 BN Critters calendar (like I did this year for the 2010 calendar) with
Buffetty Dates, parrothead events, BNer birthdays/anniversaries, etc. .....
... perhaps I could make it less *BN Critters* and more *Jimmy Buffett*?
I could use photographs taken by BNers in the calendar (pick the best 12 for the 12 months?).
I don't know. Would we need *releases* by those appearing in the photographs?
Particularly photos that include Coral Reefers and Jimmy Buffett?
Again ... I don't know.
Talk amongst yourselves.

Could this be some kind of "early warning" about 2011???????dean_siu wrote:When I was in Vegas for the show, I asked at the Margaritaville there and was told there is not going to be a calendar this year. Following industry standards, for any work that will appear in consumer or trade magazines, newspapers, or educational books, you generally do not need a model release. This is also true for photographic exhibits. These are considered educational/informational uses.
However, for photos that will be used in commercial applications - ads, brochures, posters, greeting cards, catalogs, postcards, kiosks, trade shows, Web sites, etc. - you will need a release from your subject in order to be "legal."
Some ask: "If you sell a photograph to a newspaper, is it now considered a commercial use since there was commercial gain?" or, "If you sell a print from an exhibit, is that commercial gain?" In theory, no. In practice, my photojournalist friends do not get releases; and my colleagues in the general editorial and fine art genres don't get releases very often, either.
In all these years, I don't know anyone personally who has had a legal issue regarding releases for these areas of photography. I have sold images for use in travel guides, and done many assignments for consumer magazines without needing to get releases. There are exceptions, however, such as corporate magazines.

Re: Buffett 2011 Calendar?
Last year my husband made up a calender for me with all the pictures we had taken at shows in London, Paris etc it was so good!! It was printed at Kodakgallery.com
If we all contributed photos that we were happy to be used. We could vote on which ones to use and then just sell the calenders at cost plus a little to go to charity.
Happy to do some of the work - however someone else would have to do the money - unless you all want to pay in sterling

I agree - we need to make our own. And if we don't buy the Key West Calendar - maybe they will get the message.

Re: Buffett 2011 Calendar?
To save time and money, how about a virtual calendar. It could be designed for 12 pages of 8-1/2 x 11 for size. Saved to a .pdf file, and then distributed for each person to print their own. Maybe as a "Thank you" for a donation to BN for being a supporter????
I'm not going to buy a Key West calendar instead of Jimmy!!!
