I have 25 years experience, I have multiple contacts in the area I'd be working - I'm taking a serious cut in terms of what I could POTENTIALLY earn at my current company just to go back to working for a smaller, local lender which is what my company used to be. I don't have to leave, I'm choosing to - if they want me they'll do it, if not they won't. I'm also looking into a different job at my current employer but that's actually a longer shot.
If they offer me the job I know I'd kick myself if I didn't at least ask.

Thats good , then you can call the shots.....Pam lost her job and has 23 years and finding it tough...a ton of contacts....but no one is hiring , right now......a little different in CT then VT due to population and CT having one of the highest unemployment rate in the country....good luck to ya!!

The last couple of years my mantra has been "I'm lucky I have a job" Now I don't know.
After being out of the work force for almost 8 years, I took a PT temp job. I wasn't planning on staying but I figured it was a good way to jump back in. The position is below the level I had when I was working but I figured what the hay. I've been here 3.5 yrs now because of the poor economy/job market. I'm suppose to only work 31 hrs. because after that their policy is to pay benefits, which this position doesn't receive. Of course I'm here more than 31. I do accrue a whopping 2 hrs. of PTO a month. I take vacation (5 weeks) unpaid and view that as "my benefit". This past year my manager hasn't been too receptive about my time off. If she says I can't take my 2 weeks this May...I'm calling in gone.

Hope I get one of those state/school jobs too!!

Sorry I hijacked, back to the thread topic :D
