New album rumors??

I could swear I heard something on RM about a new album. Am I going crazy? Pretty sure they're not talking about Encores. Just curious.
It is, isn't? His latest anyway, in regards to studio records. I believe I listened to the completely underwhelming Encores a total of once and then filed it away.Snowparrot wrote:I heard one of the RM DJs call Buffet Hotel "Jimmy's new album" yesterday.
To each his own I guess. I love that CD.Tiki Torches wrote:It is, isn't? His latest anyway, in regards to studio records. It has it's redeeming moments but they're few and far between, the talking ruins most of the record for me. You Had To Be There remains my favorite live Buffett album.FinnsU.P. wrote:To each his own I guess. I love that CD.Tiki Torches wrote:It is, isn't? His latest anyway, in regards to studio records. If it's something unique like an entire album performed live at least that's something different. Otherwise, all the fans that trade his concerts is an indication there's an audience for another live record. That's what started the whole Live In... series, was it not? The demand for more live recordings?changingchannels wrote:do we really need another live album?
Was it people wanting more live recordings or the thrill of having the concert you went to?Tiki Torches wrote:If it's something unique like an entire album performed live at least that's something different. Perhaps a little of both. For me, I bought some of those Live In... CDs to hear live versions of some song he might not play that often. When I heard him massacre This Hotel Room on one of them, that was enough for me. If he was going to sing a song he hadn't done in a while, it seems like he would have at least rehearsed it first. I love Buffett's ad libs as much as the next person but it wasn't enough to save that particular version of This Hotel Room.tigzoe wrote:Was it people wanting more live recordings or the thrill of having the concert you went to?Tiki Torches wrote:If it's something unique like an entire album performed live at least that's something different. I'm sick of live albums too. He'll never top the first three imo. The last bunch of live albums just seemed like a quick and sure cha ching thing!Tiki Torches wrote:Perhaps a little of both. What I'd really love to see is the release of some of his 70s concerts and/or a DVD of his first appearance on Austin City Limits.
That's why hanging out over in Concert Trading is so much fun. Lots of 70s stuff around and often gets more of my playtime than recent stuff.Tiki Torches wrote:What I'd really love to see is the release of some of his 70s concerts and/or a DVD of his first appearance on Austin City Limits.
That would be great, especially if "Fingers" was involved. They could even bring ol' Jerry Jeff along if they liked. I wouldn't complain.JollyMon66 wrote:I'll tell you what "live" album I'd like Jimmy to put out...problem is that it would require a mini off-season tour....6 or 10 dates
I'd love to see him setup a mini acoustical tour featuring many of the GREAT older numbers that never get played on the full blown tour. I think these songs are what made many of his earlier albums great. The mini tour could hit more of the intimate settings rather than the big pavallions. A live release from this tour would be something to hear since it would include those very underplayed gems.
Oh well... I guess I can dream
