Review of Austin TX show - 12/4/2010
I had the pleasure of attending the Buffett show in Austin, TX last night (12/4/2010). For those who were not aware, the Andy Roddick Foundation invited Jimmy to play at their annual gala to raise money for underprivileged and abused children.
Andy Roddick, John Legend, Will Kimbrough, Jimmy and the Coral Reefers took part in what turned out to be a simply amazing evening. I was fortunate enough to be able to meet Jimmy prior to the show. Although I was not able to take my own photos during the meet and greet, Jimmy's folks took a photo and promised the photo early next week. I was also fortunate enough to grab a spot in the front "row" of the ballroom where the concert took place, directly in front of Jimmy and about 2 feet from the stage.
The set list was as follows (Will Kimbrough played the entire concert with Jimmy and the Reefers):
Piece of Work
License to Chill
Five O'Clock Somewhere
Pencil Thin Mustache
Volcano
Come Monday
Changes In Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
Son of a Son of a Sailor
Cheeseburger In Paradise
Use Me (with John Legend)
One Particular Harbor
Surfing in a Hurricane
Southern Cross
A Pirate Looks at Forty
Fins (this was originally supposed to be after Margaritaville but the audience requested the song and Jimmy complied)
Margaritaville
Encore: Brown Eyed Girl
I am attaching several photos of the show for those who are interested (hopefully they will post properly). I have another 30 or so pics that came out great so let me know if there's another way to add additional attachments past the three photo limit. I can also provide an external hyperlink to the photos if warranted.
What a great, great, great evening for a fantastic cause. The memories of this evening will last a lifetime.

Use Me is a Bill Withers song. Good to see a NEW song on a setlist. (Amy Lee also covered that song on her CD)

Good for you on getting to be a part of this special night up front and center and to meet the man all for such a good cause. It will be something for you to relive many times over.
Love that guitar stage pic and of course the others.

Awesome pics.
Especially like the picture of all the guitars lined up.

Thanks everyone. I read BN often but haven't posted much as you can see. Is there a more appropriate place for this post to be placed or an area where I can post more than three photos of the night? I also have a significant amount of video that I shot including Volcano in its entirety.

Use Me was great, especially with John Legend leading the song. He and Jimmy danced back and forth on the stage and had a great time.

can you post a link to your pictures and videos?

44 photos have been uploaded to:

Let me know if anyone has issue accessing the pictures that I posted. I am in the process of posting the video files but since they are rather large in size doing so may take awhile to complete.

These are some of the best and clearest pictures I have ever seen of a JB show.cmptrman wrote:44 photos have been uploaded to:

Thank you SpringParrot, nice to know that my work is appreciated! In all honesty, I have to give credit to the camera I used to capture the experience last night. Canon Powershot G12. Fantastic camera, takes great pics as you can see. The video is super impressive... Working on uploading those as we speak and should be able to post a link shortly.
Of course, being three feet from Jimmy for the duration of the show helped too!

It was fun seeing the photo of John Legend barefootin'! I was not familiar with him, so I watched him on youtube and see he plays piano.
Thanks again for the link! Can't wait for the videos. Do you use youtube for those? You can put the link in the [youtube] tags and post on this site if so!

Great pictures and recap! It looks and sounds like 'simply amazing' is the perfect description! Thank you for sharing, Jason! And kudos for snagging 'the best seat in the house', and Jimmy's toga! Was it a tablecloth or something, and is there a story to go along with it?
edit: this last part might have been a bit over the top.
