ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Don Meredith, one of the most recognizable figures of the early Dallas Cowboys and an original member of ABC's "Monday Night Football" broadcast team, died Sunday. He was 72.
Meredith's wife, Susan, told The Associated Press on Monday her husband died in Santa Fe after suffering a brain hemorrhage and lapsing into a coma. She says a private graveside ceremony is being planned and that family members were traveling to Santa Fe.
You were always on my (short) list of Dallas Cowboys I respected.
Bet my list is shorter than yours!
Tom Landry. Roger Staubach. Emmit Smith. Don Meredith.
As much as I didn't like them when they were playing for the Cowboys I guess I'd add Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin to that short list
You can't be serious!!??
I too fall into the category of those who enjoyed Dandy Don's battering with Cosell. To this day I still refer to "Turn out the Lights" in key when that moment in a game comes to fruition.
Corona by day, Corona by night, any old time is just alright!

It pains me to say that - I didn't and don't like the guy but I do think he was one hell of a football player for the Cowboys. I was talking to someone this morning about the old Monday Night Football crew...wasn't it Don who kept playing that Joe Theismann leg break clip back and forth to analyze it? That was pretty gruesome

Nope. The Monday Night Football team that night was Frank Gifford, O. J. Simpson and Joe Namath.
