Droid users... What are the cool apps you're using?
New to Droid myself so I'm kind of wondering what's good?
I found one that lets me put all my key cards (store club cards) on
the phone so I can just call up the appropriate barcode and let them scan that.
Seems like a good one but I haven't actually tried it yet.

uStream Broadcast
I'll be able to broadcast next year's Critterpalooza *live* in real-time using my Droid X
on my uStream TV Channel
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/surfpiratetv
I've been testing that ability the last few days or so, might even do a live broadcast this weekend
from Peter Mayer's show in Lancaster, PA.
And with uStream Video you can *watch* uStream broadcasts like Jimmy's recent uStreams of his concerts.

I think I got a bad phone. It seems to like to re-boot itself and when it does it takes FOREVER to come back up. It will be sitting beside me and just re-boot out of nowhere. The other day the battery got very hot. Last night I started to get pop up error messages about the fring application not working properly I deleted it.surfpirate wrote:What problems are you having?ph4ever wrote:I just want my freaking droid to actually work properly
It's already been to the service center once. Last time the same things I'm experiencing now started happening and I ended up loosing all my contacts. The service center reset it back to factory settings saying that one of the updates was causing the problem. I'm sending Don back with it to the service center Saturday with instructions to "channel" me. I would take it myself but I have a salon appointment.

A week after I got my Droid I had to bring it back to Verizon and get a new one, I couldn't get a signal when I turned the power on. It works fine now.ph4ever wrote:I just want my freaking droid to actually work properly

That's another issue I'm having. We've got Airwave(rave whatever)2 in our home and my phone shows no bars and digital roam while Don's has full signal strength. We will be standing within 10 feet of the Airwave thingie and he's got full bars and I'm on freaking digital roam.LIPH wrote:A week after I got my Droid I had to bring it back to Verizon and get a new one, I couldn't get a signal when I turned the power on. Every time I think about replacing my phone, I read a thread like this, take a drink, and wait for the urge to pass.
My DumPhone (tm) still works just fine. I know I'll need something fancier one of these days, but given some of the reviews I read about various phones...I'm in no rush.

Don't get me wrong, when it's working okay I love my droid!!!! Our family of 3 all have the same droid and I'm the only one that has issues. As Meatloaf sang, 2 out of 3 ain't bad!

Re: Droid users... What are the cool apps you're using?
So, I just got one as well. I put on a couple of things althuogh I don't know how cool they are:
1. An AirHorn. It make 10 or so different sounds. My kids love it.
2. A color flashlight.
3. Sudoku.
4. SaberDriod. Kids love it.
I got the mall from the Droid Market - they are all free.
I do need to find a good To Do list/Tasks list. I have TaskOS which responds to voice input but I'm not totally sold on it.

Re: Droid users... What are the cool apps you're using?
Some apps will put a severe hurtin' on battery life,
particularly if they need to frequently check GPS or other updates,
so keep that in mind.
Best to check comments on any apps before deciding to install.
That said ..... Google Sky Map is perhaps too cool for words.

I was about to ask about that. The clerk at the store installed it for Don.Hockey Mon wrote:Also, Advanced Task Killer is nice to have.surfpirate wrote:Some apps will put a severe hurtin' on battery life,

Google Sky Map is sweet.
Air Control and Angry Birds are fun games. So is Live Holdem.
Barcode Scanner, Fandango, Kindle, Groupon, Google Maps Places are all great too.

Re: Droid users... What are the cool apps you're using?
So, I get the point of it - it kills apps you have running and increases your amount of free memory. But, I do wonder how often it is necessary to do that. And, if you kill an app, do it free ALL the memory that the app was taking or only a % of it (like 90/95%). Like I read somewhere, it's effective a Ctrl-Alt-Del for your phone.ph4ever wrote:I was about to ask about that.
