Jimmy flying commercial?

Post by LesPaul30 »

My gf and I were on a Continental flight yesterday from EWR to FLL and very late in the boarding process comes in a guy with a few others up in first who looked VERY similar to JB. I brushed it off immediately since I could not get view of him as we were in "steerage" and there is no way he would fly commercial being such an avid pilot.

But later in the evening my brother told me he was on the Today show yesterday morning so I started to wonder... it was a "booked" FC seat (not an upgrade from the list on Continental) - could he just do a quick commercial leg up and back? And why not fly direct to West Palm?

Anyways, enough of a stalking thing....just had to wonder if it was really him or not.. doubt I'd have said anything to him anyways....

If The Donald is flying JetBlue, I guess it is possible that Jimmy could have resorted to flying commercial if the Citation had a flat tire or something...

Very possible. I sat next to billionaire Steve Forbes ten years ago on a continental flight from Denver to Vail in the winter. He didn't look like he was up to a snowboard trip. Took me afew minutes to figure out who he was. Was shocked he was flying commercial.

Jimmy sold his West Palm home last year.....And a lot of guys that own "Big Iron"..charter them out as a side benefit for the pilots to make extra money and help pay for the operating costs...could have been a scheduling conflict...Not that Buffett needs to do that, but it is a very profitable way to own multiple aircraft....

Given all the bad weather up and down the eastern seaboard, maybe he didn't want to deal. Who knows? Anyway, having Jimmy on your plane has to be some kind of major good luck gris-gris, eh? :)

I think it was him. When I looked up and noticed him getting on I immediately brushed it off and kidded with my gf about it joking that there's a guy up there that REALLY looks like JB (she's not really a fan to begin with and just rolled her eyes). I forgot all about it until we landed and saw him again and then I thought- wait a sec- this guy really does fit the profile here- but just couldn't get a really good view to confirm it. I would have put $ on it at the time but couldn't think why he would not be flying his own plane...

But it would make sense since NBC was likely flying him up for the gig then...

Wish I upgraded our seats! She would have had no idea it was him- I would have made her introduce herself not knowing. Would have been a great expression on her face when she'd put 2x2 together!

Haha- well, on the way out the plane I had to ask the flight attendant if in fact JB was up there. She had no idea who I was talking about!

I wouldn't think Jimmy didn't fly up because of a free plane ticket. I remember seeing him on Leno or Live with Regis and Kelly a little while back and he was saying how he flew up and landed on the East (?) River. I would guess it was more likely that he isn't used to landing where there might be snow and/or ice.

However, there's also the fellow who lives in south Florida who's a dead ringer for JB. His first name is Jimmy but his last name escapes me at the moment. Even a parrothead could easily mistake him for JB.

His plane could have been in for maintainance. Or as mentioned before a schedueling conflict, wasn't he originally supposed to be on he day after?
