Rangers top the Rays to go to the ALCS for the 2nd straight year........is this the making of some kind of dynasty in Texas????? :o

The Rangers were doormats for so long, nice to see, kudos to Nolan Ryan and the front office for putting together a winner! [smilie=coolup.gif]

I'm sad the Rays didn't make it farther, but I can't be completely upset with a loss to Texas.
I knew this girl made of memories and phrases, who lived her whole life in both chapters and stages.
Danced 'til the dawn, wished all her worries away.

She's a long way from a West Nashville grand ballroom gown.

Not really. It's just delaying the agony for another day. But if they would ALWAYS play the way they did last night, I'd be happy, win or lose. Right now, I won't cheer until they win that 11th playoff game.
HOWEVER, unless the Brewers make it to the World Series, I'll probably be rooting for the American League team.

And I thought you were a true conservative where people are measured for their ability compete in the open marketplace. And now YOU say you'll root for a league that embraces the DH?     The DH is nothing more than WELFARE for MLB players with diminished skills propped up by the union. Think Vlad last year in the WS

The Rays had a great season..... [smilie=coolup.gif]

I keep hoping that my Orioles can someday pattern the success of Tampa Bay and be as competitive in the tough AL East..... :o

Phillies-Cards, Brewers-Dbacks, Tigers-Yankees.......all series go to a Game 5.

As a baseball fan a single elimination game is exciting, but if I were a fan of any of these teams I'd worry about that "one play" during the final game that determines the winner & loser! :o

I'd worry if were a Yankees fan. Sure Ivan Nova pitched great in the regular season but a rookie pitching in a game that could end your season? It would not fill me with confidence but since this is an all or nothing game, Girardi will probably empty the bullpen at the first sign of trouble.

Ed and Larry you are right. I'M NERVOUS about that one play that turns the game. Glad the Phils have Halladay with Lee on the bench for Friday rather than a rookie.

If you want playoff drama...you got it!

I never quite thought of it that way. I may have to re-think the way I look at the game.
As much as I've tried, I just cannot cheer for the Phillies or Cardinals. Apologies to my friends whom I love in those cities.
And yes, Larry. I'm worried about Nova too. (Shades of a rookie named MEL STOTTLEMYRE in game 7 of the 1964 World Series).
But Nova is all they have available. Sabathia is fat. out of shape, and very tired. Nova is pretty good when his team has the lead, but iths not easy getting a lead on the Tigers. so we shall see.

I remember during spring training the NY papers made a big deal out of the fact Sabathia lost 25 pounds during the off season. I think he found those 25 pounds, and maybe a few more, in the last few months.

At least I can watch the games these next 2 nights and not worry about the outcomes........but I am pulling for the Phillies! :pirate:

After not having a TV for more than 3 years I never noticed this before but what's with those braided necklaces so many players are wearing? [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]

I've been wondering that myself. Magnets maybe?
