The nature preserve that I often visit is having a Facebook contest for photos that represent "Wildlife of the Preserve". If you're on FB I'd sure appreciate your vote! First you have to "like" the preserve's FB page, then "like" my pic. The link to the preserve's page is:

Thanks Chip! I got very lucky with that shot. I took it from the bridge that crosses the slough. A noisy group of people had just crossed over ahead of me, and they never looked down. I caught a glimpse of the raccoon and was just hoping he'd stay long enough for me to get close. I was able to get several shots as I worked my way closer, until he got spooked. He didn't go far though, just into the trees where he was still watching me. This pic was my fave because it looks like he's smiling. I actually took it a few years ago, I'd like to think I'd get an even better shot today since my skills have improved somewhat.
