Sedona Arizona
OK, we've got a week to trade for our timeshare and one of the few interesting looking areas coming up as available in the time span we have is Sedona Arizona. The time is end of June, beginning of July.
Anyone familiar with what that area is like in mid summer? The pictures of the area I've seen look gorgeous.

I didn't know that! When did you live there? I know it will be pretty warm, but it looks bearable. 90's during the days.
I can't believe the rock formations....they look lovely.

I've ALWAYS wanted to visit the area. Please let us know how you liked it if you go.

If the area around Sedona, Cottonwood, Camp Verde gets to warm, take a short drive up Oak Creek Canyon, stop and slide down the rock at Slide Rock or continue up the canyon and explore the area around Flagstaff. You'll want to do that regardless of how hot it is yet it is a great way to escape the heat.

Re: Sedona Arizona
We were there last September, and it got up to 107!
I imagine July would be even warmer!!
Not much shade in Sedona.
There's a reason those dates are available...

Yes, we lived there from part of JH until a week before I started Senior year in HS.nutmeg wrote:springparrot wrote:It is amazing...we lived in the area about 5 years

We lived in Navajo, AZ....just off the Navajo reservation on what used to be Route 66.
It gets hot during the days, but cool at night, so be prepared.
and yes, the formations are amazing.

I figured on that. Hopefully the early mornings and evenings will be bearable. 107 is way out of the range that this Michiganian would be comfortable. It was over 100 when we were in the San Diego area a few years back. They were haing power outages and were spraying the people/animals in the animal park with mist.
I think we are going to go for it. I think I can handle it for a week. Maybe it will help me appreciate this winter more.
Re: Sedona Arizona
I have never 'been' there, but I have driven the track a few times.

Re: Sedona Arizona
Sedona is not as hot as Phoenix or as cool as Flag. Monsoon season will be in full effect so afternoon showers will happen and cool things off.
Make sure you do the pink jeep tour. Also go to the Grand Canyon. I agree with Oak Creek and slide rock. Lots of fun!
You can fly into Flag or drive up from Phoenix. Probably hour and a half drive.

Re: Sedona Arizona
Sedona is an amazing place.. will be toasty in July but not too bad. Remember its not a humid heat (I know, like a hot furnace). The rock slide is one of the coolest places to hang out on days like that. You can also head to Mesa outside of Phoenix and hit the Salt river and do some tubing! Its cool and so much fun .. course, its been a 'few' years since I lived in Tucson so things are probably a bit different now. Sedona is gorgeous and always will be however! Great hiking up in Flastaff... wonder if that cool brewery on main st is still there?! Loved that place!

Re: Sedona Arizona
We really enjoyed all that area on vacations and there is a great steakhouse/saloon called Black Barts that I'd recommend.

The cliff dwellings are also a "must see. "

Gotta love old Route 66!

I'm really beginning to look forward to this. It wasn't a place that was normally on our vacation radar, but sometimes those turn out to be the best vacations.

It was sometime back in the 90s!
Sad to hear... It was lots of fun with all the music.
