They can spin it whatever way they please.

Jimmy Buffett knows perfectly well people book airfare, hotels, train tickets, etc. months ahead of time. Why not give these people atleast 48 hours? It was obvious that the concert was a huge risk 4 days ago. He could've announced this yesterday and saved people a ton of money. Its all part of the business, I guess.
I got a refund from Airtran/SW last night

But given that Sep 2 is Friday of Labor Day Weekend, I bet JB and the band members may well have had plans that no one wanted to mess with.

So, what happens if you now can go, can you buy tickets online? What is preventing me from returning all the tickets I bought (because my friends can't use them) and then just buying myself a ticket?

Nothing. in fact there's REALLY good seats available right now.. but better ones to come when the refunds are issued. I'm debating... would be the first time I've missed a JB show since '77!!!!

thats what i was thinking.....also maybe people had weekend plans and Thursday gives them a 4 day weekend!!.....or getting a security force together for that day was tough....could be a few things..but Jen i end to agree with yours.....it's a freak thing with the timing.

I can't compare to that streak, impressive.

I bought a few extra tickets for anyone who needed them. With the whole no tailgating policy, I couldn't move them. But now, I can get a refund. So, by my dumb luck, I actually won't lose money. It's Karma I tell you.

Whoa! That is cool. Of course, I bet they will keep the surcharge. In fact, I know they will.
I just went to the live chat at ticketmaster.com and got a refund, took less than 5 minutes. They said $157 would be credited to my credit card so they're refunding all the charges, not just face value of the ticket. Just for the hell of it, I went to TM after I got the refund, according to the interactive seat map my seat is already available.

When his Chicago shows were rescheduled in 2001, due to 9/11, the same policy was in effect. Lots of poeple turned in their tickets for refunds and then bought better seats.

And while tailgating is a huge deal to most of us, remember, we are also the ones that love hearing all those songs that others sit down for. There will be lots of empty seats because of scheduling problems, especially moving from a weekend to a weeknight, but I think some of you are overestimating how empty it will be solely because of no tailgating.

maybe not, but SWA is nice enough to roll unused tickets over as a credit against future travel, so this isn't the hardship that cancellation and confiscation would be.

I'm gonna make the call that pholks ARE NOT overestimating the crowd reduction. Now with people having the refund "out" due to the weather.....sorry Jimmy.....don't take it personal!
In fact, I'll be shocked if they're isn't an "upgrade" discount given to the lawn people the day of the show.
Ultimately though, this is karma to the venue for being pricks this year.
