No Vacation For Jimmy
Has anyone else noticed that this summers schedule doesn't give JB his usual time off?
Don't have a clue what it means, but thought it was abnormal..as are some other things
Late Tour Announcements. (delay from fall?)
No 2 show venues. (ticket sales?)
Venues he hasn't played in years. (additional places in exchange for the lack of 2 shows)
Little time off during the tour.. (Realization after the fall that touring could be coming to an end?)

So far he's off on Labor Day - maybe I'll be lucky and he'll be on Nantucket for that since I'll be there for Labor Day weekend and the week after. (All are welcome to come sleep on the floor at my rental in Sconset if he shows up!)

Noticed the first three but not the fourth. But now that you mention it....gunthermoose wrote:Has anyone else noticed that this summers schedule doesn't give JB his usual time off?

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!

Re: No Vacation For Jimmy
Again, are we really going to speculate something that won't happen until 2012 at the earliest before the 2011 concert season even begins? Am I the only one who thinks it is cool that Jimmy is doing new things?
It shows a new sign of life . . . not a slow decline of death.
As Parrotheads we should know this.
Some day he won't tour. THIS day we are planning for a great summer. Why, why, why for the love of cheap beer and horny women must we do this every single year?
How about this? No two tour dates for any city = no intermission which = more songs? How about that thought process instead?

the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

Speaking of something different, I kinda liked the 3 PM start from a couple of years ago.drunkpirate66 wrote:Again, are we really going to speculate something that won't happen until 2012 at the earliest before the 2011 concert season even begins? Re: No Vacation For Jimmy
I am sure Jimmy will not stop touring for a while. He is a W*^$e when it comes to making money. Im sure someone in Vegas or somewhere else, maybe his new casino, will build/open a small theater in some hotel, where he can work limited amount of shows per year, and make maximum money, sorta like Garth does.
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

Re: No Vacation For Jimmy
I am not reading into anything that Jimmy may do as he is in a point in his career where he can do whatever he wants, and he certainly will not ask me for my opinion. I am very thankful that we actually have a tour to talk about this year considering that the fall could have been a lot worse, and we could be sharing memories. I am just thankful for another summer with Bubba, and I try not to worry about things that I have no control whatsoever over.

I see him taking three weeks off between May/June, June/July, July/August, and four weeks off between Aug/Sept. So that looks like vacation to me! ![battingeyes [smilie=battingeyes.gif]](./images/smilies/battingeyes.gif)

Well said. There are probably a lot of reasons for it that we will never know about. Some could be economical, some could be personal preferences, it could be because of family obligations, it could be because of other project commitments.ParrotHeadInThe Making wrote:I am not reading into anything that Jimmy may do as he is in a point in his career where he can do whatever he wants, and he certainly will not ask me for my opinion. I'm just very grateful we have a tour this year to worry about. For 24 to 48 hours after his fall we were all living to hear the next report and scared of what we were going to hear. It cold have ended all that night but it didn't! I do think he will tour along as he is physically able and he enjoys doing it. When he isn't touring he will probably own enough of his own cafes, casinos, hotels and bars to perform when and where he wants. The difference will be it will be small venues and set locations. But really what is wrong with that!!

Re: No Vacation For Jimmy
I don't think Jimmy wants it to be over yet either. I think that if he didn't realize it before he found out after the fall how much we all love and genuinely care about him. If that was me that is something I personally would find hard to walk away from. I think the same is true for him. What I'm saying is that maybe the way he tours will be different but he will find a way to perform and be with all of us.
BTW, did anyone else hear one of the DJ's on RM over this past weekend say we should all keep an eye on Margaritaville Cafe Las Vegas this year as there is soing to be something major ging on there. 9Not an exact quote but close.)

Re: No Vacation For Jimmy
Take a closer look at the schedule. Once it gets to June, there or only 3 (probably 4 w/Alpine) shows in a week then almost a month off. Then in July, 3 shows in 5 days with a Chicago home base and then almost a month break. August has 4 shows over an eight day span, with a month break until Paris. They might actually be grabbing more time off this year.gunthermoose wrote:Has anyone else noticed that this summers schedule doesn't give JB his usual time off?
