Jimmy and Dave Matthews

Post by PackerPhan »

I was on Youtube recently and found this clip. Does anyone know when this was or if this is available on Jokelben at all? Thanks for the help and enjoy the tour!

From The Big Apple To The Big Easy, 9/20/2005. There were 2 shows going on at the same time - Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. Dave Matthews played at Radio City then came a few blocks downtown to the Garden to sing one song with Buffett. Paul Simon joined him later in the set for Sea Cruise.

There's a 2 disc DVD set from the show. It's heavily edited because the concert lasted about 6 hours, but the Buffett/Matthews duet is on it - disc 2, track 3. I hadn't watched it in a couple of years, this thread motivated me to get it out and I just popped disc 1 in the computer (still don't own a TV). I'm watching Allen Toussaint right now.

Sad to say, After I saw this I had lost all RESPECT for Jimmy. Haven't even seen him in concert since this event had taken place.
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

you're still on a Buffett message board so there must be some respect left
But seriously.... I hate Dave Mathews as much as the next guy but that's a little harsh.

It's pretty pathetic that you lose respect for a musician because he appeared on-stage with another artist that you're not a fan of.

Its not that he's not a fan but while I still respect Jimmy ...Dave Mathews??? C'mon lets be for real thats the most boring yet annoying nasally twanged singer since Neil Young.
I believe its due to the fact that Jimmy sang with him but refuses my offers of performing on his next album that gets me.

The really cool thing about music is that it's subjective.....there are no hard and fast rules regarding what s*cks and what doesn't.

I like Dave Matthews.....absolutely one of the best concerts I've been to.....an incredible ensemble group of musicians.....

I loathe Kenny Chesney, but I certainly don't hate Jimmy or anyone else for singing with him or going to see his stupid little concerts...
