Who's Going to John Prine's show at the Wolf trap 8/26/11

Post by jbfinscj »

It's been a great weekend to purchase tickets. I got my Buffett tickets for Bristow, Va and just picked up two for John Prine up the road at the wolf trap in Vienna, Va. Who is all going to see Prine the night before Buffett?

<--- would skip a Jimmy Buffett show before missing John Prine. I'll be at both shows.

I almost agree with you Surfpirate. I saw John Prine at the Benedum in Pittsburgh 3 years ago and couldn't believe how good he is live. His songs just capture your attention. Guy Clark was the other artist that I saw who could just stand up there with a guitar and hold the audience in the palm of his hand.

Two of the men appearing on this 1972 Steve Goodman album cover,
John Prine and Marvin Gardens,
will be performing separate shows on back-to-back nights
in Northern Virginia outside of Washington DC in August of this year.

As far as I know, their individual concert tour dates
have never coincided so perfectly

Makes me wonder if perhaps they'll get together for a beer.

Todd Snider belongs in this very elite group as well.

I was wondering the same thing! How cool would that be if Buffett showed up at Prine's show or the other way around.

We're in! Out on the lawn.......with dinner........and some wine.........and beer...........OMG! Are we tailgating? No! Because at Wolf Trap (a national park)you can bring your dinner and booze with you. What a novel idea!

Can't wait! 8)
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

I just want to say that this was one of John's better song sets ever.

Dear Abby, Please Don't Bury Me, Angel From Montgomery,
Hello In There, Spanish Pipedream, Sam Stone,
Fish and Whistle, Souvenirs, Lake Marie
,
and whatever else I may be forgetting.
He even dusted off Common Sense which I've never
heard him do live.

As always, John was the master stage showman with
short anecdotes between songs.
He also displayed complete mastery of the
*crazy Joe Cocker leg* he gets going
whenever he's gets-ta-rockin' on the geetar. 8)

I absolutely love Wolftrap as a venue too.

Enjoyed the company of Kevin and Linda (PA Parrot and Saltx3)
over the weekend and at the show. They swung by our house
for a preshow visit and stopped by again Saturday after the show
before they headed back to Pennsylvania. We all rode to and from
the show Friday together as well.

Not from our show but rather a 2004 show in Philly,
but "hey!" .... he's wearing the same black suit.

Best example of *Crazy Joe Cocker Leg* around the 8:00 minute mark.
I love this song.

I totally agree. Great venue, great show, great hosts. What could be better?

And thanks to our wonderful ticket donor as well! It was very much appreciated.

You and Kevin are welcome, I am glad you enjoyed the show. I have never been to the wolf trap, but I hope your seats were good. I didn't order the tickets until about a month after they went on sale.
