JLL can say all they want that it's been posted on the website for a while. But when, for the first time ever, tickets show up with "NO Tailgating Allowed" printed on them, folks are going to say WTF? The venue now tells everyone gates will open 2 hours from the start of the concert. That's the reason people with tickets now feel "had". They paid their money for an experience at Bristow that they have enjoyed for years past and expected this year also.
I don't blame Jimmy. I don't think it's his problem except to note that the policy has changed at JLL and his fan base may elect to have a different "Jimmy Buffett concert experience" then the one now offered at JLL. He created the epic tailgates (videos on the big screen, Margarilla, RM in the parking lot) and now parrotheads expect them at a lot of venues. I guess he'll see what ticket sales do because it really is just business.
Linda, I'm thinking they're going to really regret this when they have the first concert where there are still cars out in the street when the concert starts. Morons.

For anyone who is interested here is the schedule for the country music festival event at Jiffy Lube Live this weekend:

McDonald's WMZQ Fest 2011 Schedule

4:30p Steel Magnolia
5:30p Eden's Edge
6:30p Sunny Sweeney
Blue Tent:
4:30p Jason Aldean
5:00p the JaneDear girls
6:00p Eric Church
Side Stage:
4:15p Battle of the Bands Winner
4:50p Eden's Edge
5:40p Sunny Sweeney
6:40p Steel Magnolia
Main Stage:
7:25pm National Anthem
7:30-7:45pm Jane Dear Girls
8:00-8:45pm Eric Church
9:15-10:30pm Jason Aldean

With the gates not opening until 45 minutes before the first act takes the stage, trying to get into the parking lots could be a disaster of near epic proportions. Just my 2 cents

That's pretty crappy for the band that's taking the stage at 4:15 by the time people get parked, through the gate and to the stage they'll be halfway through their set.

It's more then just crappy when you consider that most venues stop cars coming in to check for tickets which only slows things down. I looked a map of where Jiffy Lube Live is located and there is only 1 road in and out of the venue. A large number of attendees will miss more then just the 1st half of the first band's setScarletB wrote:urlcenter wrote:For anyone who is interested here is the schedule for the country music festival event at Jiffy Lube Live this weekend:

when one takes into account that the venue has a 25,000 person capacity!! How long will it take to get all 25,000 in starting at 3:30pm??

If you're staying in Manassas go Balls Ford Rd to Wellington, hang a right and the venue is on your left. We've always gone that way and had no problem at all getting in.

Re: So, looks like jiffy lube live is serious
Considering they are opening the gates early enough to accommodate side stage performances for WMZQFest, maybe Jimmy should have a couple of side stage performances throughout the afternoon which would require the gates to open earlier and thus the lots as well. Let the Boat Drunks or Captain Quint play the afternoon away over there. Turn it into Jimmy Buffett's "Working the System" tour.
Niss.... JLL has never checked tickets for cars coming into the lots for anything I've ever been to there. The one road in/out has historically been a disaster, but admittedly in the last year or two they seem to have finally worked it out with some route modifications. I understood that when the venue was built, nearby land was slated for Disney America. Together there was intent for roads to be upgraded to accommodate the increased traffic. When Disney went away, so did the roads, leaving Nissan with what the county had to offer.
As for WMZQFest, nobody comes to see the first band on the side stage anyway. They haven't even been deemed significant enough to have their name listed. It certainly does s*** for the band and the small number of people who would actually want to see them, but 99% of the people in the door are coming for the main stage. The 4:30 headliner autograph session seems like it would be a bigger draw than the side stage.

The 20: Taking On Jiffy Lube Live's Tailgating Ban
The Fairfax County concert venue announced a prohibition grilling and drinking in the parking lot for the rest of the season
- activities commonly referred to as tailgating. Chris Gillner says he?s not going to take it - and he's started a Facebook page
critical of the policy. Gellner joined NBC4?s Craig Melvin to discuss.

I'm certainly not going to post this on the group's wall, but that interview was a mess. He couldn't even remember the name of the group. Seemed unprepared. It's a shame, would have been a great opportunity to really make a good statement against the policy.surfpirate wrote:The 20: Taking On Jiffy Lube Live's Tailgating Ban

Re: So, looks like jiffy lube live is serious
For some time I've been thinking that I've been spending too much time on BN. And, honestly, all things Buffett for me have begun to fade just a bit......maybe just a sign that I am getting older. Or maybe my priorities are changing.nutmeg wrote:Bfan53again wrote:We all have our opinions (some of you more than others) and I respect that.
For me, I have come to expect the all-day party that a Buffett show brings. And it's the friendships, not the alcohol, that I enjoy most. Bristow has been convenient for me, the closest venue JB plays to my home (still about 2 hours away). Without tailgating here I now exercise my right to stop attending Buffett shows from this point on. Look at the bright side, I'll be one less person trying to get tickets every year.....
Come to think of it, I guess I have little need for BN now either......
![]()
How we gonna plan our sailing trip if you leave BN?? If Jimmy stopped playing tomorrow, I would still want this site to continue because I have a lot of friends here.
Concerts, tailgates or no...there are a lot of people here I care about. I hope you aren't serious about leaving us. Besides I rely on you keeping the critter forum close to the top![]()
Hugs!
This new "no tailgating" policy at JLL just became, for me, the final straw. Frankly, the concert itself has slowly become secondary to the enjoying the day and events leading up to the show.
So, if I go to Bristow this year, it will be my last JB concert. I will stay in touch with those Parrotheads who live close to me and those friendships will continue......

I have no dog in this fight as I have never and will never attend this venue. However it makes me sick sometimes the way some people pretend to be bigger fans with statements like "I dont need to drink", "Tailgating is for non fans who are just there to party, Im there cause Im a bigger fan".
Well first if you dont think Jimmy discusses tailgating during contract talks then I have a bridge to sell you in London. Margaritaville has worked for a long time to brand themselves as a laid back party atmosphere company. Ever seen videos of tailgating when your eating at M cafe????? Oh no that never happens.
Why would Jimmy care about tailgating???? Its not like his company sent a shark shaped golf cart with a Rock Band game attached to tour the lots before the show, or its not like they set up Landshark Lager bars in the middle of the Pine Knob lot.
I mean how could anyone ever think a tailgating is part of a Jimmy show or that he cares about it?? Its not like he sells items specifically designed for tailgating...................... oh wait http://www.margaritavilleretail.com/las ... -1533.html
If tailgating was totally banned would I still go...........yes, but would I be upset if I couldnt get tickets or had to work, probably not.
