So, looks like jiffy lube live is serious

I have a bad feeling that Jiffy lube live in Bristow is serious about no tailgating. That is a big part of the experience for us. What do you guys think? If it is for safety reasons, then are they not serving alcohol inside the venue, I bet not.

While this policy really stinks, at least inside they have people who can refuse service - in theory. That's why alcohol will still be served inside I bet.

i don't think i've ever seen them refuse to serve. Hell most people are tanked going in and they serve them. Thats were i'm surprised ,that venues haven't stopped alcohol consumption in the lots....it cuts into there sales inside. As does food sales.

First of all, sorry, guys. This sucks! Second, if they enforce it, my guess would be that this will be the last time Jimmy goes back there. Third, being from the Mid-Atlantic (I've been to the shows in Bristow a few times), it reminds me of the Puritanical nonsense I grew up with. No thanks.

Make the best of it. Make sure to enjoy the show. This is nothing worth getting in trouble over.

I think there will be the exact same amount of tailgating as ever. I can't see law enforcement giving out hundreds (thousands?) of tickets to people in the same area. A large crowd like that is usually better controlled by either ASKING people to put it away or just be more inconspicous with it. They'd have a long line up of people waiting to get tickets. Even law enforcement knows better than that. I agree with the poster above that said JB may not ome back if it gets enforced.

My feeling is that it isn't going to be much different than previous years. Maybe that's wishful thinking? One thing we know for sure.....there are a whole summer of events at Jiffy Lube that will take place before our Buffett show. We will know for sure how things will be handled by them by the time our concert rolls around. In the meantime, just wait and see what they do.

The reason Parrotheads are "allowed" to tailgate anywhere is because the local police determined a realistic approach to crowd control. They could attempt to stop it. OR they could go with it and monitor it safely. The fact is open fires and open containers of alcohol are pretty much illegal everywhere.

Places/events such as NFL football games aren't even legal places to drink in the parking lot. Anyone could be arrested for it. BUT, the local police and government figured it would be more safe, cost effective, and better for the community as a whole to allow people to go early, drink in a safe area (as opposed to at someone's house and then drive), and not block traffic - as much as possible.

I have met so many people who think Jimmy Buffett had some influence with the local politicians or something in every venue he plays to allow 10 + hours of binge drinking before his shows. Not even close. The police allow it only because it is more realistic, safe, and cost effective to try to ban it.

Whoever made the decision to ban tailgating at the Lube is retahded. It will cause far more trouble then solve.

What other shows are scheduled to take place before the Buffett show? Are they ones where people would typically engage in "tailgating"? I'll be curious to see the enforcement of this new edict at these other shows as kind of a guideline.....

NO TAILGATING is what The Woodlands has been dealing with since the opening of the Pavilion.
Only for the last 2 years have they allowed it.
No tailgating didn't stop JB for coming back for many years.

If there is no tailgating, people won't like it, but they will get over it.

Rascal Flatts
Def Leopard
Energy Drink Mayhem Festival
Tim McGraw
Kid Rock

Hmmm...Energy Drink Mayhem festival involves Megadeth and five other bands I never heard of.
Do y'all know if any of these are shows at which one might get drunk and screw [smilie=battingeyes.gif] prior to the show? I'm thinking Def Lep may have been back in the day, and curious what kind of crowd Kid Rock draws.

When we entered the parking lots at the Woodlands this year, we were given a sheet of paper with rules on it.
No glass, no charcoal grills (we were under a county burn ban), ect...

Well, about 5 of us lit our charcoal grills around the same time and didnt see the cops for several hours. when they finally made their rounds to our lot, they were really cool with it. said they were looking the other way on the grill issues, but wanted to make sure i had some water in my coolers in case anything happened.

somehow, i think the rules at Jiffy Lube will be enforce a bit more than ours were.

i feel for all you parrotheads who were/still are planning to tailgate the show. :(

One of the reasons for the new no tailgating rule was a fatal accident after a Rascal Flatts show. The article on the homepage of BN has the details.

okay. there was in fact a fatal accident after a Buffett show at Nissan/JLL a year so ago. Is this the answer to the question "how many people have to die before they impose a no tailgating rule?" I'm sorry. Actually, no I'm not. This is stupid. I've been to Buffett shows before and not had a drop of alchohol and had super time. But when someone removes the option for me to make a decision about my own activities when I'm paying a LOT (for me) of money it p*** me off. Auntie gives this action from JLL a rare " " face.
