Official A1A Sign source?
A while back somewhere on the forums I found a thread that included the place you could get an official A1A Sign made by the same folks that make them for the Florida D.O.T., now I cannot find the thread I've searched a dozen different ways and zilch.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.

Re: Official A1A Sign source?
I have ordered signs from these guys before. They can make about anything.
http://www.hallsigns.com/
Since they are in Indiana, I doubt they make them for Florida DOT, but the can make the same spec, as long as you can provide the artwork. I have used their products on county and state road projects.

The next time you get mad, ask yourself the following question. Will it will matter a year from now?
If it won't, breathe in, breathe out and move on. Life is short, remember to have fun along the way.

End of Roosevelt Ave, a couple 9/16" ratchets, and a steady "base guy" for the support while you are "up the pole".....Perry and Sarah wrote:A while back somewhere on the forums I found a thread that included the place you could get an official A1A Sign made by the same folks that make them for the Florida D.O.T., now I cannot find the thread I've searched a dozen different ways and zilch.

Re: Official A1A Sign source?
Start stealing them and the state might start selling them. That actually happened up the road a ways from Charleston. There's a little community up there named Harleyville. As bikers came thru they just helped themselves to the signs. So some wise citizen came up with the idea to sell the things. Now the bikers stop and buy them.
Every day you wake up you get another chance to do it right.

One late night drunkin expedition...One pick up truck...One good tow rope...One nice genuine A1A sign.
Don't go the ratchet direction; they use special bolts and poles that make it very difficult quick operation.
And yes I do speak from experience!
I've got one hung up behind my bar, thanks to Delray Beach not patrolling very often.

The thread is asking about "official" signs....that's really the only way to know you're not getting a knockoff.Left Field ParrotHead wrote:Speaking from experience...?RinglingRingling wrote:End of Roosevelt Ave, a couple 9/16" ratchets, and a steady "base guy" for the support while you are "up the pole".....Perry and Sarah wrote:A while back somewhere on the forums I found a thread that included the place you could get an official A1A Sign made by the same folks that make them for the Florida D.O.T., now I cannot find the thread I've searched a dozen different ways and zilch.

Re: Official A1A Sign source?
Exactly!! I thought about the Mile 0 sign when I was in KW, but every time I got close, there was always some law enforcement close by so I didn't even go have a look.chippewa wrote:The thread is asking about "official" signs....that's really the only way to know you're not getting a knockoff.Left Field ParrotHead wrote:Speaking from experience...?RinglingRingling wrote:End of Roosevelt Ave, a couple 9/16" ratchets, and a steady "base guy" for the support while you are "up the pole".....Perry and Sarah wrote:A while back somewhere on the forums I found a thread that included the place you could get an official A1A Sign made by the same folks that make them for the Florida D.O.T., now I cannot find the thread I've searched a dozen different ways and zilch.

Re: Official A1A Sign source?
Anyone look to see if that one particular sign has any "extra" fastening devices? Gotta think it does or it would go AWOL on a frequent basis. Even with law enforcement around, there are 24 hours in a day and there tends to be more activity in Key West around the clock.Left Field ParrotHead wrote:Exactly!! Doing one of the tours once in Key West they said the mile marker 0 sign in Key West is the most stolen sign in America.

you know, over time, every time you pass by, you give it a loosening twist... then, Sunday night...looking4OPH wrote:Anyone look to see if that one particular sign has any "extra" fastening devices? my problem is that I usually run out of money and am escorted to the city limits by the time the sign is loose enough to take.....(however, if anyone else gets escorted out of KW this summer, try the sign at the city limits...I had some time to waste while I waited for my cab....)

You'd have to cordless and I don't know if that would have enough for those hardened poles.RinglingRingling wrote:in that case:NYCPORT wrote:One late night drunkin expedition...One pick up truck...One good tow rope...One nice genuine A1A sign.
