I found this on an Aggie site. This is Willie's 1974 4th of July Picinic held at Texas World Speedway in College Station.

From the Handbook of Texas online:

In 1974 the picnic was actually a three-day festival that took place outdoors at the Texas World Speedway in College Station. Waylon Jennings, Jimmy Buffett, Leon Russell, Michael Martin Murphey, and Jerry Jeff Walker were among the lineup of musicians that attended. From this time on, Willie's picnic established itself as an annual event.

I haven't watch the entire bit. From what I've glance over there are great Willie, Jerry Jeff, and Waylon performances. Leon, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, David Alan Coe, Ray Wilie Hubbard are also there.

Enjoy!

I watched the video and enjoyed it so much.
However, since it was from 1974, it was fun seeing how things have changed.....pop top beer (you know, the kind you can cut your heel on  ), Instamatic cameras, movie cameras--maybe super 8?

And the performers were BABIES!!!
Jerry Jeff Walker, Leon Russell, Bobbie Nelson, etc. Of course, it was about 40 years ago :o

I didn't see JB in the video, guess he didn't make the movie cuts?

One of my older brothers gave me a poster for this movie but as far as I know, it's never been made commercially available for purchase. Thankfully, there's at least those YouTube clips. Something I read recently said it originally aired on the Midnight Special program back in the 70s which would explain the presence of Wolfman Jack in some of the clips.

I saw a Midnight Special sign in one of the pans around the stage so that makes sense.
Lots of talent on that stage

I love that stroy of REK's.

Question - who is the fiddle player abut 3/4 of the way into the video?
