it's sad that the franchise has taken such a beating. Not on the field, that's part of the game; but a good franchise with a very long history having to go through the crap the idiot owner and his gold-digging wife are doing.. time to jettison the McCourts and leave them under one of otheir parking lotstigzoe wrote:HAHA! Manny hasn't gotten paid!!! THAT is funnier!!!!! That is what you get when you cheat!
They can't move back to Brooklyn, they'd be encroaching on the territory of the Brooklyn Cyclones.Tequila Revenge wrote:Maybe someone will buy them and move them back to Brooklyn.![]()

It is too bad. And while I don't profess to follow baseball too closely, it appears that Selig seems to be letting it all happen. Shouldn't he step in and do something as you know, the commissioner?RinglingRingling wrote:it's sad that the franchise has taken such a beating. speaking of the number 11 as you have, detroit is close to retiring that number in memory of sparky anderson. before sparky had that number with the tigers, it was worn by bill freehan. unknown who may have worn it before him.ragtopW wrote:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA

I have no love for that bald, bad-rugged weasel who's done so much to destroy baseball on his watch, but in this case: the current owner gutting a franchise short-term and long is not in the best interests of the league or the franchise. Blocking the sale of broadcast rights to prevent McCourt from using the proceeds to pay off his divorce settlement is a good thing.Hockey Mon wrote:It is too bad. Nutty, not to worry. major League affiliates come and go. A well run franchise in a new facility will always have a working agreement. It may be you could be much better off getting away from the mess. Been involved in Minor League Baseball since 1982 and seen a lot. You guys will be finenutmeg wrote:![]()
My beloved Great Lakes Loons are an affiliate of the Dodgers.
some of our boys are now on the Dodgers team. (Dee Gordon, Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Jansen)
I just hope all this financial mess and wrangling doesn't cause us to lose our minor league team.
Not laughing here.....

It's not like the Natonals are looking for affiliate teams...Cubbie Bear wrote:Nutty, not to worry. major League affiliates come and go. I bet you still won't be allowed to tailgate in the new "McCourt Memorial Carpark".RinglingRingling wrote: it's sad that the franchise has taken such a beating. perhaps not, but it would make losing the last of 4 $10 stadium beers on the asphalt after the game that much more satisfyingRabbitz wrote:I bet you still won't be allowed to tailgate in the new "McCourt Memorial Carpark".RinglingRingling wrote: it's sad that the franchise has taken such a beating.
