Parents of daughters...

Post by buffettbride »

WTF do you do about guys checking out your daughter? I don't mind so much when it's guys her age, etc. but it's the creepy twentysomethings and up that I want to get all up in deir bidness and smack around their asshats for checking out a 13 year old.

Just wondering...

We were at a car show one time when Caitlin was about that age and two guys started in on her while Larry and I were a little ways away.....I lost my brain. She was horrified, Larry was amused....the two guys knew in no uncertain terms that if they ever made a lewd comment to my 13 year old again, they would die.

If it was just a gawk, fine....but when they crossed the line and started saying things about her.....that flipped the switch. I was known, many times to just say....'SHE'S THIRTEEN'.

Bless her heart, she takes care of it herself now!

I don't have an answer but I have my iPod on shuffle. While I was reading this, the song that was playing was Joss Stone's Dirty Man.

I remember being that age on a school trip to DC when some creepy old guy started following me around Union Station commenting on the way I was licking my ice cream cone. I walked straight up to an adult male and told him and found that the other adults were more than happy to deal with him for me.

Sadly, you just have to teach them to handle crap like that earlier and earlier these days. Of course, if it were my 13 year old I'm sure I'd be the first one saying something to the guys. I'd imagine something along the lines of "She's 13 you perv. I can't wait to see your episode of To Catch A Predator".
I knew this girl made of memories and phrases, who lived her whole life in both chapters and stages.

My daughter is only 4 so I figure I've got enough time to learn how to use a firearm and apply for a carry permit. Or I'm going to walk around with a hockey and hit them with it. Or I'll stick her 2 older brothers on them. None of that should be appealing to the boys talking to my daughter.

Reminds me of a Trace Adkins story, he tells his daughters boyfriend, "son, can't you read the signs that say I have been to jail". My daughter is 17, going on 24. This is getting pretty common and annoying. I have found, make your pressence known, say little. Fortunately I am blessed with a glare that can make the dogs hide behind a couch.

For some odd reason my dad thought it was time to clean the guns starting right before my date picked me up.

I seriously don't think it was a coincidence.

Boys already have to endure the wrath of dad if they want to take her on dates. That's scary enough.

It's the boys-on-the-street that just gross me out.

I have to admit, sometimes it's just a little easier raising boys....

If I had a 13 y/o daughter and someone said something lewd to her, there'd be a 50/50 chance I'd end up in jail......

Your job, at this point, is not to decimate the idiots.

You task is to enlighten the young one on how to best handle those idiots.

Having two daughters I know what this is all about. Like what has been said, if it's age appropriate then it doesn't bother me but when it's men my age leering them up and down and sometimes with their wives beside them I just want to go up and punch them. Don't get me wrong I'm talking leering looks. I always stare and hope to get eye contact then give them the shot of creepy hell look.
