Poll..Do you like knowing the setlist before seeing the show
We all know the Yellow album tunes will be represented as the meat & potatoes of the show. I'm always anxious to find out what the "gravy" tunes will be.
While the show closer tends to be rotated from night to night amongst a few accoustic classics the so called "gravy" tunes stay fairly consistent.
In the past I usually keep up to speed with the setlist & kinda like knowing what I'll be hearing & in what order (helps with bathroom breaks).
I'm expecting a shakup from the June leg of the tour in the "gravy" department & I'm thinking this year I'll turn a blind eye to the Toronto & Cleveland setlists before JB embarks on Pine Knob so that I may be somewhat surprised.
What's your take?

I would rather not know. I like a little mystery in life.
Dumb and drunk as I was, you know I would do it all again.

1. You forgot the Boobies option
I'm torn about this, while I like to be surprised I DO like to know if there is anything being done that I'm not familiar with (fairly new fan) because then I'll download it and become more familiar with it. But I generally don't listen to RM for the 2 or 3 shows prior to the one I'm going to just so it seems fresher.

Hmmmm. I voted no, but sometimes I do like to know. I would like to know if Jimmy decides not to do God's Own Drunk at Pine Knob.
I sincerely dislike that "song" and would be relieved to know it was out of the set list. I know a lot of you live to hear it live. I'm afraid I just don't "get it" However if it does stay in, I guess that will be my bathroom break. Hopefully it will be in the middle of the show
I most look forward to the encores, and love to be surprised by an "oldie , but goodie" for those.

If I was going alone, I would pick NO for sure. However every year I am going with people who like Jimmy but don't know all the deep tracks like all of us BN'rs do. My wife is a prime example. I am about to play Knee Deep for her right now since I know if I don't, the concert will be the first time she hears it.

Re: Poll..Do you like knowing the setlist before seeing the show
I voted "No," although we pretty much know what's coming, just don't know the order from show to show.
The songs of the "Yellow album" plus the standard covers (B.E.G., Southern Cross, etc.) make up about 1/2 the show, so it's nice for a little surprise here and there.
The concert in Tampa this past April was probably THE greatest set list surprise for me in quite some time.
And hearing "Livingston's Gone To Texas" at the Frisco show was dynamite as well.
Being lucky enough to have already attended four shows this year, I suppose I'll know what to expect in Chicago next week, but, again, it's still fun, and, of course, Jimmy always seems to slip in an unexpected surprise or two at each concert.
I'm just glad he's still preforming and we can have these type of discussions.

Re: Poll..Do you like knowing the setlist before seeing the show
I prefer not to have a carbon copy of the show two nights before. The Tampa show was stellar because it was the first. But after the 2nd and 3rd and 4th...etc, the set list became not so stellar. The tour isn't over, so I will wait on my final opinion. Last year, the most fun I have replaying a show...minus the GW shows, is the Bristow show. When Mac and JB cracked up between WDWGDAS and IMJ are still classic in my ear candy world!

Re: Poll..Do you like knowing the setlist before seeing the show
I voted YES..... after I heard him BUTCHER Wino and I Know as the opening..... I am glad I did not buy tickets.... Years ago I saw him in Vegas.... And he did that song.... But it was only him and Mac doing it....... with the full band it sounded like complete s***.
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

After you get done drinkin' and screwin' ...
Plus, he did Brahma Fear at that show. I turned to the people next to me (complete strangers) and said "I can't believe he's doing Brahma Fear." They said "What?"![noeyedear-shrugging [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]](./images/smilies/noeyedear-shrugging.gif)

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Re: Poll..Do you like knowing the setlist before seeing the show
Oh heck no. And not just for Jimmy, but for any concert. If I know what song opens the show, there's no surprise. If I know the closer, I know it's over and feel like heading for the door to beat the crowd. Anything in between leaves me feeling like there was no surprise, I already knew that was coming. Takes much of the fun out of it for me. I avoid the setlist threads here like the plague.

No. We pretty much know what's going to be played between the Yellow Album and whatever the tour's theme is, but it's great when you get those surprise gems like "Cuban Crime of Passion" or "Railroad Lady". I'm waiting to hear "My Lovely Lady" at some point in this tour - hopefully Jones Beach.

Most of us were there at one time. My first Buffett concert I had never even heard the yellow album. The only CD I had heard was Feeding Frenzy that my hubby had gotten me the previous Christmas.tigzoe wrote:The joys of realizing there is more to life than a yellow album!aeroparrot wrote:I don't care who you are that's just funny..... and also annoying.LIPH wrote:After you get done drinkin' and screwin' ...

Nope! Jimmy has done God's Own Drunk at previous concerts this year. It will be interesting to see if it appears at Pine Knob too.KeyLimin wrote:I'm guessing you mean 'Why don't we get drunk', don't you? That is my bathroom break, too.nutmeg wrote:Hmmmm.
