Ladies... Santa needs some help..

Post by ragtopW »

 OK a lot of help..but that is another story.

I have a Birthday Present to buy She wants a shirt from Margaritaville but
doesn't like the only style she knows of..
I shopped and found another style with the same saying
8) :pirate:
BUT I don't know her size..
I asked two of her friends who both gave me the same guess..
so do I take a chance on size.. or buy a gift card and point her to the right store??

there might be a chance I ask her out at some point in life, and do not need
a huge strike against me for getting the wrong size

thanks

Love
Santa

Buy the shirt......it's more personal. Gift cards are wonderful, but if this is a girl you want to ask out....be personal. If two of her girlfriends are helping you out, I'd say you're on the right track.

some of the ladies fitted shirts run small.....

you could order a couple of shirts in different sizes and then return the ones that don't fit.
I must be wishing on someone else's star....

I realize you asked for the ladies to respond, but gift cards are the perfect gift if you are too lazy to put some thought or effort into a gift.

Yep, buy the shirt. :) If it's the wrong size, it can always be exchanged. :)

Well I have the Shirt picked out.. it's the size..
I guess I could ask her to take off her shirt and check the size then..

 BUT at that point I am afraid my mind would wander and I
would forget all about her gift and think about .. well one of the options on the poll

If her friends helped you, you should be good. MUCH better than the gift card.

The ladies shirts definitely run small and are pretty fitted. You have to be nearly petite to wear them.

I usually wear a small in the ladies shirts at M'Ville, Wayne....
I like my t-shirts a little on the snug side because I'm a tramp like that....but you know about how big I am....so kinda use that as a guide. I'm kind of busty, so sometimes they're a little tight, but I don't see that as a bad thing.....
For the record, I feel bad for guys buying clothes for women....you're sort of damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you buy it to big you get, "You think I'm fat." If you buy it too small you get, "You wish I was smaller."
HOWEVER, having said that.....err on the side of too small if you're having to make a choice.

I agree on the fitted shirts running small...you might go back to the two cohorts and tell them it's a fitted shirt and ask them how that might change the size. You might also call the M'ville store that has the shirt, ask for a female salesperson and explain the dilemma, they might be able to give you more info based on customer feedback. :)

I wish M'ville would have a feedback option so customers could get some more info about the products...like fit. Major fail for M'ville IMHO. :-?

I agree on shirt.

I disagree on buying too small rather than too big. If something is too small I can't wear it at all. If it's too big I can still wear it.

Shirts also have a tendency to shrink sometimes. I'd go a size up if these are fitted ladies shirts and she is "curvy."

this is a good idea...

i would strongly advise against a gift card for all the reasons above

be sure to mention that you heard they run really small, and that way you won't lose points if one of the sizes is too big

i avoid ordering ladies sized shirts online because it's hard to tell, even for myself, if they will fit...

if her friends are confident about the size and you order just one, you could offer to handle the exchange for her if it doesn't fit. getting a wrapped present, and having someone follow through to make sure it fit would make me smile :D

Guess it depends on the fit she likes

i agree with you about prefering shirts to be snug rather than too big, but i know we are in the minority. i won't wear a shirt that is too baggy. if it's a bit snug, i can always tug on it a little when it comes out of the wash to stretch it out a bit

her friends could probably tell you if she prefers shirts snug or loose, or you could observe the way her shirts fit when you see her.

btw Santa, there's no standard size system for women's clothes like there is for men's. in women's clothes it's possible that you wear a small in one shirt and a x-large in another. it drives me crazy

If you can tell me how tall she is and about what size her boobs are, we can guess as to size. Those shirts do run a little small.
I knew this girl made of memories and phrases, who lived her whole life in both chapters and stages.
Danced 'til the dawn, wished all her worries away.

She's a long way from a West Nashville grand ballroom gown.
