My poor truck - the surfpirate HANGTEN mobile was totalled

Well .... this was how started my day today .......

..... I've had better days.

I'm okay .... truck is totalled ....
c6 vertebrae something-or-other that I need to see a neurologist about ...
... ankle swollen and sore....
neck brace (grrrr) ....
bruised head-to-toe (air bags)
.... can barely walk without pain ...

some good painkillers though.

Idiotic driver of a huge-ass dump truck
coming in the opposite direction
decided to turn left at an intersection directly
in front of me ......
I had just enough time to react and slam on the brakes
and turn away from a full head-on collision....
was probably going about 45mph (speed limit is 50 in that area)
and he was turning at 20mph or so.

Lots of witnesses,
he was at fault,
received a citation (woop-de-doo).

My first ever ride in an ambulance
to the trauma center,
then 4 hours of neck brace, cat scans, x-rays,
and general poking and prodding.

Plus they cut my favorite summer shirt off of me.

Was stuck in the truck about 1/2 hour.

I know how you feel. My lil truck finally died this spring, and I havent been able to buy a new one on my lowly civil servant paycheck.

been trying for a long time to find something...anything to replace it. Thank God my mom has let me borrow her car or I couldnt get to work. She needs it back and I still cant find anything.

Surfpirate, I'm so sorry about your truck but in the total scope of things your well being is the important thing. There is another Hangten out there or maybe even a Hangeleven.

My only trip in an ambulance, I told the attendant that I felt like I was riding in the Schwans truck.

I hope you are feeling better soon. However the pain may get worse before it gets better. It seems like it really sets in around day 2 or 3.

OMFG SP!!!!!!! Glad you are going to be ok, SP! I am so sorry that you had to wait in the trunk for 30 minutes before they could get you out. Sorry for the loss of your truck. Good thing your truck was pretty big or it could have been a lot worse.

OUCH!!! I do pray you recover quickly. You are soooo lucky that you didn't have more injuries then you have. They sound bad enough.
