OBX in October?
So the OBX is again on the potential destination menu this coming October for a few days. Actually considering sometime the first week in October.
I know there is no iron-clad guarantee answer but using the BN experts best guess answers could I assume that I wouldn't necessarily have to make reservations for a good place to stay?
Thanx!!

Re: OBX in October?
I used to go to OBX during the week after Labor Day and it was far less crowded then during the summer months. However, I think it depends on where you are staying. Nags Head, for example, has fewer hotels/motels and more privately-rented homes so you could see No Vacancy signs given the few options.

Re: OBX in October?
My parents have a place up in Corolla and it is rarely rented in October. I've gone down once or twice in Oct - it's nice because everything is less crowded. Not a warm mind you but it is vacation.

OBX (and Myrtle Beach & Hilton Head) is wonderful in October.......just Google "Outer Banks accomodations" and you should be able to find most anything you like!
On most days I say: "Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been...."
Sometimes I can only say: "There is no dumbass vaccine......"
If something or someone gets you down, just remember: "In a hundred years it all won’t matter.........."

What I'd "Like" would be to just wing it & not commit to reservations. Suppose I can call some of the local establishments & get feedback....of course I'm sure they'd PREFER I commit & reserve with them.Bfan53again wrote:OBX (and Myrtle Beach & Hilton Head) is wonderful in October.......just Google "Outer Banks accomodations" and you should be able to find most anything you like!
Then again, many hotels allow you to reserve, then cancel prior to 24 hours of arrival. Could go that route!

I think you would be ok. We live in Norfolk, VA and it's not uncommon for my husband to decide on a Friday afternoon that he wants to go to OBX for the weekend. We haven't had a problem getting a last-minute place to stay.

Oh, and October is in hurricane season. Which is only a problem if you are there during one.

Re: OBX in October?
We stay in Nags Head every year and use Village Realty. Private homes, but after labor day the prices drop in half and Oncce october hits they drop even more. I prefer Nags Head forthe proximity to Roanoake Island and allthe shops there and all the things to do in Nags head
if you cant laugh at yourself, laugh at someone else.
