Jimmy Blog from from former NBA Player Jim McIlvaine
Interesting Jimmy stuff from former Marquette and NBA Player Jim McIlvaine. Jim and his wife Gwendolyn could be tallest Parrothead couple. Jim is 7'1" and his wife is 6'7". She played at North Carolina I believe.

Agreed, that is a great find and so true. But I also can think of about 3 dozen songs that I would love to hear Jimmy do in concert other than the regulars.
My fantasy is to win the lottery and hire JB and the CRB to do a private concert for me and 500 of my closests friends. And I'd pay double if he would let me make up the set list! Well a girl can dream can't she?![happydance [smilie=happydance.gif]](./images/smilies/happydance.gif)

Re: Jimmy Blog from from former NBA Player Jim McIlvaine
I have often thought that the price stars pay for their success is mostly likely much more than I would be willing to give up. I think the success would be awesome and the money and perks wonderful. But I enjoy my privacy and ability to just go places without being hassled too much to give that all up.
I personally think being Jimmy Buffett (or any other well-known personality for that matter) would s*** even with the ability to surround yourself with "people." No wonder he travels to the far ends of the earth--he has to in order to get away from us..

Re: Jimmy Blog from from former NBA Player Jim McIlvaine
not a very surprising picture of what goes on behind the scenes. fame has certainly changed him and how he conducts his business and thats understandable, but there really is still no excuse for not really changing up the setlists. go back to some of the setlists of the 90s and even early 2000's. they had more variety and he was performing more shows and all were sold out! i just think these days he relies to much on the obvious songs from his catalog and im not including the "yellow album" because most of those i think he does have to play. he has deliberately placed southern cross, beg, 5 o'clock, yellow submarine, glory days, etc into the setlists.

Interesting perspective we don't regularly get to see/hear. Saddens me a bit to hear the cold, regimented approach to contact with Jimmy. Understood with millions of Parrotheads (and special others like sponsors who don't care as much) clawing at him every public minute of his life for a few, brief seconds and a hurried picture or hastily scrawled autograph on whatever item is available. It sure is a different view from the crowd interactions we see on stage and brief YouTube glimpses in small, Caribbean bars.

I don't go to a gazillion shows (wish I could), maybe one every other year so the setlist does not bother me.
I'm sure there are a lot of first time concert fans at the big show who want hear the SYKBH. My buddy is a huge parrothead and went to his first show a couple of years ago in Jax with me. He loved all the SYKBH as did I.
I remember Jimmy wrote in one of his books about an annoying fan down in Mexico. I'm sure there are times when you almost have to be rude or abrupt.
