Critters is an on line comic strip that SP draws for his and our pleasure. Many of us have become "Strippers" by having become characters or "Critters" in the strip. You can find the daily strips here in their own forum or on facebook. Also there's this http://crittervillecove.com/

He also has this archive where you can see every strip and catch up. http://bncritters.com/archives.html

Been a while between posts...
We did not sail off the end of the world.
Was hoping to hear/see a response from Philip Fajardo by now. Nothing, yet.
I did go ahead as was recommended earlier and post a note to Greg "Fingers" Taylor. Hope to get something back from him, soon.
^^^^^ UP!

at a coincidence that you should ask about any progress.
Two recent tid-bits that I need to post to that message stream. ( I hope to do that later today). You get the preview. :-)
1) My borther was back in Amarillo last week and visited an art studio/store. We can't believe it but, he ran into "Bobby" the guy who retired from Amarillo's Hastings Book and Records. Bobby worked there back in the '70s. Bobby works in the art studio these days. My brother described the whole quest to him and Bobby indicated recalling such a show taking place back in the '75 timeframe. Unfortunately, they did not discuss obtaining any evidence. So, all we have to go on from Bobby is that he knows it happened which is where Scott and I are already.
Next time he is in Amarillo, my brother will try to find Bobby again and ask if he has any connections back at Hastings who could look into the show date.
2) Greg "Fingers" Taylor wrote back yesterday (via Facebook) and told he he appreciated my post to his Facebook wall, wants to stay in touch but, can't recall any specifics for a show in Amarillo.
So, I 've heard from Roger Bartlett and Greg "Fingers" Taylor. Just not from Philip Fajardo.

In the meantime, I haven't felt like posting anything to Jimmy's Facebook page would get an answer (as someone suggested I should do) because I really doubt Jimmy has the time or inclination to read such stuff. His Facebook page looks more like a marketing center to me than a real page Jimmy would be watching/using.

So, Scott and I have been drafting some t-shirt designs to commemorate this little quest, not that we are giving up and letting this ship sink.

:D aHowdy, Scott & Kirk!

Brought back some good memories.

Back in the 90s I went to Redrocks and saw Jimmy had played there in the 70s. I always wished he'd play there again.

It's happening in October.

Now ...I would still like to know when Jimmy played Amarillo. :D :D

I just reread this entire thread.....love reading it again.
I don't guess there are any updates?

You are sure JB wasn't at the rodeo? Probably not at the civic center.
I think that was usually at the Fair Grounds?

Thanks for re-reading the thread. Sorry to say that we have no updates.
However, we are sure the event did not take place at the Fair Grounds (rodeo).
When I saw the newer stream regarding "Older Buffett Concert Locations" it got my hopes up again.
It sounds as though you have familiarity with Amarillo, though. Yes?

Again, thanks!
Kirk

Well, folks,,,
We may be on to some concrete evidence and information.
Background: Scott and I are coming up on our 40th high school reunion. The reunion coordinators have built a website, facebook page, etc. So, we posted a message about our little "Amarillo; The Lost Show" endeavor on the reunion facebook page.

Turns out that someone we went to high school with recalls going to the show as well. His recollection is better than ours. Here's why. He recalls getting his driver's license just before the event so that he could drive his date to the concert. Not exactly sure, but the timeframe is in the neighborhood of Saturday, 20th March, 1976. The show was held at the old symphony hall at the Amarillo Civic Center. JJW was there, too.
In my mind, that is a pretty solid piece of information. So, we are getting really close to solving this!

I still need to do some research into JJW tours, show dates, locations, etc. as a means to cross-check this.

Additionally, a classmate recommended contacting, yet, another classmate who has worked for years at one of the radio stations in Amarillo. We've done that, too, and he is looking into this as well to see if we can confirm that date.

Now, if we could only find pictures or memorabilia as icing on the cake.

Thanks! And,,, More to come!

Well, here we are five years on from the original posting of this message stream and 40 years on from our high school graduation and it is time for the reunion. Yes, this week. And, yes, forty years. These pirates are looking into the eyes of a forty year reunion. :o :pirate:
So, we are meeting up and heading to Amarillo to catch up with people we've not seen in many a year. Without a doubt, I'll be asking around to see if anyone there has recollection of that 'Lost Show' and, perhaps, help confirm that Saturday, March 20, 1976 show date.
I'd love to find someone who had pictures, a ticket stub, a poster, anything!
Anyway, it has been challenging fun trying to pin this down.

Hilarious:

The sandy-haired singer with his permanently sun-burnt skin, distinctive moustache and long flowing locks was born some twenty-nine years ago in Mobile, Alabama.

Hi springparrot!

As for the reunion,,, No luck in getting further confirmation of the March 20th, 1976 show in Amarillo.
I need to do more digging through JJW sources and anything else we can come up with to see if there is anything of record that might help confirm the Amarillo show date.

Ah, Pampa! Home of the Harvesters. :D
Every time I return to the panhandle, I am reminded of how great (friendly, warm, and caring) the people are.
Might you know the Turner family from Pampa? Know Dexter, perhaps?

Looking forward to your reply...
