Thanks springparrot, that too is our problem, that memory thing. However i did speak with an old friend who now lives in California, he did not remember him being there either, however his wife let him know that she was at the "lost Show" also.

Well, the "while in Amarillo, stop into Hasting's Corporate Headquarters" idea did not pan out. My brother had family committments back in the Dallas area and had to hit the road, pronto, to get home. Maybe on another trip.

What a great thread to follow. I hope that you're able to find the Amarillo show and maybe even the set list.

It's great to read all of the comments and suggestions.

Thanks Ant Dot2, Kirk and I have had a great time in out search and parrotheads like you make it just that more fun. Even though it would be nice to finally find the answer to our questions. I do have a new lead that a friend of mine who is a long time muscician that spent a great deal of his life travelling around the nation playing in many a honky tonk has given me. He has a good friend who too is a big Buffett fan and whose wife just happens to be from Amarillo and they have a recording studio in a small town in North Texas. Keep your bones crossed.

Scott,

This is great news! Let's hope it leads to some definitive information. btw - My brother will be back in Amarillo this Friday. Perhaps, this time one of his family commitments will not get in the way of this more important matter!

Every now and then, I feel like our ship is taking on water. Then we find a way to bale enough to stay afloat. We are not out of resources, yet. Maybe, just maybe, one of these days soon we can hoist the spinnaker and calmly coast into the realization of our quest.
In the meantime, have a rum and coke or a nice cold brew.

Kirk

well, our latest lead, like the others have left us empty handed. He was and still is a huge Buffett fan but like many of us who are old enough to have known who Jimmy Buffett was in 1975 and old enough to have a few beers as we belted out, " why don't we get drunk and screw", in our best Jimmy Buffett voices, just can't remember all the details back then. The search continues.

Scott and Kirk in our younger years (sometime in '75) when we saw JB in Amarillo.

This is Scott and Kirk in our younger years. Actually, this was taken @'75 during the same era when we saw JB in Amarillo. Oddly, enough, this photo was taken at the Amarillo Civic Center Colesium (not the venue in which JB performed). We believe he played at the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium. Unfortunately, we have no pictures or ticket stubs to prove it.

Ya'll were the only one there?

Have yall contacted WTAMU? They may have some kind of archive of history from the area.

Good idea txaggirl91, i happen to know a student there that gives tours of the campus. He happened to come home a few months ago with an West Texas State annual to show me and my wife some pictures of us when we attended WT. Kirk also attended WT. Maybe they can find something in a 75 annual. And yes, Springparrot, we were the only ones there at that moment, we were actually early for some event we think. Again, memory is lackiing. this picture was in our high school annual.

Kirk here,,,
Quick update. No, we are not giving up on our quest.
I have contacted (left a message at the WTAMU radio station's general manager's number). Waiting on a response.
We are trying to reach Amarillo College, too.

In the meantime, my brother did make it back to Amarillo today. He managed to stop into Hasting's HQ and spoke to someone there who took down the details and will get into the hands of the "old timers" to see what they recall or might have on hand. Wow! "Old Timers"? Really?

We may have to pull this old boat out of the water, scrape off the barnacles, apply some paint and varnish, and mend the sails. "Old Timers"?

I hope to soon hear what the "Old Timers" have to say.

Additionally, Scott found Mike Wheeler's picture on Roger Bartlett's website. Mike Wheeler was JB's manager back in the '75-'76 timeframe according to the website. So, we are trying to find a way to contact Mike Wheeler.

I have tried sending a message directly to "the remittance man" who has a comment embedded within the discussion stream.

And, I just got a lead on the former/retired manager of the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium. He will be getting a call or email, if I can find his phone number, etc..

So, the quest continues.

Thanks springparrot! This is fun, albeit, a little frustrating. It is amazing to me that it is so difficult to confirm the date of that show. Let alone, get any sort of set-list, etc.
btw - Scott just uncovered a possible way to reach Phillip Fajardo. As it turns out Phillip is working in the Austin area.
I hope we can reach Phillip. He might just be the key.

Thanks.
I have been reluctant to join Facebook.
This little escapade might force me to join.
I will see if the two email routes that I've tried reach Phillip before I decide to join Facebook.

Well, we are taking on water fast. Found another radio personality from those days, he too has major memory loss. Still are hopeful that we will get a response from Phillip Fajardo. I just finished talking to a young man who attends WTAMU which is in Canyon, TX just south of Amarillo. He is going to look thru some yearbooks for us to see if there are any references in there, being Jimmy wasn't quite as well known back then, i am guessing our chances are slim. Our next option might be distributing tshirts asking people for any information that they might have regarding the "last show" to please contact us.

Hey Bro! Think I got on this board but not sure. Love the effort of your search and hope you find the answers you are looking for. Have to say the pic of you and Scotty is a "fine" pic and am proud to say you are my handsome brother with a handsome friend. Now you guys need to post a pic of you two today. LOL! And show this board how handsome you two still are today. (maybe a little grey headed but oh well aren't we all)! Goodluck in your quest and hope you get the answers soon.

I've been following your quest since it started here and I have to say it's been entertaining. I truly hope you can get all your questions answered soon. Now having said that I have a question in regards to the pic you posted.

Which one of you is the one who looks like Ashton Kutcher?
