Who's Going To Jacksonville?? 1-31-12

Does anyone know of any hotels within walking distance to Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena?
I know we can catch a cab there, but getting one back may be difficult.

There really isn't a hotel that is "walking distance" as the arena is over near the sports complex/stadium. There is plenty of parking though.

I would suggest the Crown Plaza, Wyndham, Omni, or the Hyatt is probably the closest and all are nice places.

I would not skimp on the hotel as there are some very sketchy areas around Jax.

This is our first time seeing Buffett in J-ville!! Does everyone tailgate in the parking lot or is there a particular party spot where everyone goes? Come on January!!!!!! Fins Up!!!!

Hi Sheree!!! We're going to Jacksonville.

We've stayed at the Omni (I think) before and walked from there. It has been about ....hmmmm... 6 yrs since we saw Jimmy in Jacksonville.

Chillin' -- sometimes the local ParrotHead club reserves a space in a big parking lot... Wait and see what others post on here as the time gets closer.

Got no tickets but I'll be there and yes you can tailgate there.
Last year we partying in the parking lot next to the football stadium not just the PHC section.

Decided to go to Charleston, since our PH club are buying the tickets.
Saturday ticket buying is rough during football season.

But thanks for the heads up on the Omni for future reference.

Thanks for all the info. Oh yea! we will be at the parking lot ready to tailgate! Do they usually open the lots here pretty early? We are always in the lot in Chicago by 7:30 a.m.

I know for the Outdoor Cocktail Party many people stayed across the river from the Stadium.
They took the "river shuttles" to & back from "The Landing"? If those are available that may be an option.

Actually, there are no hotels in walking distance of the arena. Carolina Girl was thinking about us walking to Jax Landing from the Omni, but we took a taxi to and from the arena last time we went.
