Looking for a "mean" Pulled Pork Sandwich recipe!

My third son is graduating from high school in June and we're having his open house in May. He finally decided on pulled pork sandwiches, three kinds of coleslaw (Mitch's pineapple slaw being at the top of the list!), potato salad, and make-your-own ice cream sundaes. His girlfriend is having her open house about three weeks later and is serving the same sandwiches because her grandmother makes a "mean pulled pork." Now, my pulled pork is just okay and being a rather comnpetitive person, especially when it comes to food, there is no way I can serve a just okay pulled pork when they're serving a mean one! So, I'm turning to some of the best cooks I know of for an "outstanding pulled pork recipe!" Please keep in mind that we don't have a smoker and just a gas grill if it's going to involve any of that.
Help!!!

I plan on doing some "taste trials" before mid May. I'm going to try BB's first then I'll try hers substituting Tommy's bourbon for the beer. This could be fun!

That would be yummy, I'm sure.

We actually use Strongbow, but that's because hubby can't drink beer any more and that's his drink of choice. I'm sure bourbon will be fantastic. I'd say we make it 1-2 times per month and it's probably one of the kids' favorite dishes. Hubby and I each work about 45-50 hrs a week, so our Crock Pot is our best friend.
