Well Parrotdawg is excited as they are doing the inter-league playing again this year with the Yankees coming to ATL in June.

I hear the Tigers are petitioning MLB so they can play with two first basemen this season. :D

Actually, for most of this season they can swap Cabrera/Fielder at 1B/DH. But next year (or late this season) will be interesting when Martinez comes back.

Don't we usually wait until we see who will be playing for what team before we start the discussion for the year? :-?

Unlike the GOOD OL' DAYS, when guys would play for one team for their entire career. (The majority of them anyway-there's always somebody getting traded here or there).

In any case, we all have our teams we cheer for and WILL cheer for no matter who plays for them.
It's gonna be intresting next year when the Houston Astros will reportedly switch to the American League (and also rumored to be considering a name change), in addition to (UGH) an extra round of playoff games.

Can you say N.H.L.?

I agree with you about adding more playoff games, but the likely expanded playoff would be two teams playing a single game, not a series.

I dunno. Never really noticed the dates of the past threads, Garry. :) I just know that there was a fairly newsworthy story today, so decided to start it. Besides pitchers and catchers report in 25 days. ;)

And we're watching the Avalanche game right now.

SCHEDULE more Sunday double-headers (the owner's wallets be damned), end the season the last week of September, have TWO rounds of playoffs (3 out of 5 division series, and 4 out of 7 L.C.S., as is the case now), go right to the world series, 4 out of 7, and end the entire baseball season by friggin' Columbus Day.
I don't want to spend my Thanksgiving deciding to watch N.F.L. or the world series.

Yeah, I read the story of Fielder too. Kinda nice.
Pitchers and catchers who know what teams they'll be PLAYING for will report in 25 days.

It's leading the sports pages in Wisconsin too. But I cannot, for the life of me, fathom the amount of money he is going to get ... even if it is over nine years.

Ohh, hockey content. But back to baseball, I can only hope the Nationals finish above .500. And that Strasburg learns how to pitch, not just throw the ball at crazy fast speeds.
Twenty degrees and the hockey games on...

Yeah, but I'm a just a smidgen depressed that he's gone. Maybe we'll get a couple of really good pitchers and other needed players with the extra money. Looking forward to the new season and more squirrel jokes. Seriously, they should train one to run around the field as a mascot. Maybe put a little Cards shirt on him. 8)

Did someone say Tigers???

and welcome home to Prince. Tigers always wanted him but missed out cause the Brewers were one draft pick ahead of them and there was nothing they could do at the time to jump ahead.

Fielder said in an ESPN interview that he remembers growing up and playing little league ball in Detroit.  I'd just like to remind him, as well as msu#1 and other Tigers fans, that Thomas Wolfe once wrote, "You can't go back home to your family, back home to your childhood, back home to romantic love, back home to a young man's dreams of glory and of fame .... "
But I guess for $23.7 million per year you can forsureashell try.
Hope you guys end up getting what you're paying for.
