Re: Who's going to Bristow, VA September 1?
Didn't go last year for the first time in many years due to the "new tailgating rules"......BALLS wrote:Alright Buffett nation, need some info. First time coming to the Jiffy Lube center, coming in from PA. Anybody been to a show since the supposed tailgaiting ban has been changed? What is allowed??? Am I going to be able to enjoy any alchohol??? Or am I better off just hanging out at my hotel till 3 or so, then make my way over to the parking lot??? I'm used to Camden, where they can be pains in the ass with some things, but overall once your inside the lot, things are ok. Any help, info or general discussion would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Not going again this year, but last I saw no canopies are being permitted. You're being told how to park. No idea whether you again must exit your car upon arrival and stand in line. I used to leave my hotel & head to the venue around 3 pm, but you never knew when the gates wouls be open. Years past you could drink alcohol if you stayed put & didn't walk around with an open container (and you were of legal age!).
Gee, now I know why I'm not returning to this venue.......

With the "no canopy" rule this year & the usual late summer Virginia heat & humidity, trust me, everybody will be meeting under the trees..........zippy wrote:Looking forward to the show, is anyone meeting under the trees this year?

I have been to a few concerts there this year, went to some last year during the tailgate ban, and enjoyed years of fun tailgating prior to last year's debacle. Tailgating is allowed again this year. It is basically like it was in the past except you cannot have canopies. For anyone who endured the lack of tailgating from last year, it is no longer like that, and the cops and folks walking around are very nice this year

No. It is nothing like the past.jmackert wrote:I have been to a few concerts there this year, went to some last year during the tailgate ban, and enjoyed years of fun tailgating prior to last year's debacle. This is even annoying. In order to view the tailgating 2012 rules and policies
you must *become a fan* and *like* the rules page on Facebook.

They have provided an image to let us know how to set up chairs.

There will be NO CREATIVITY. None of the fun aspects

Re: Who's going to Bristow, VA September 1?
Finally I had to register like 5 times to finally get on here.
Anyways I'm heading down to VA for this show with a group of 5. We might not be able to set up our canopy but we're going to grill some fish tacos, have some tropical drinks and hang out with our infatable parrots and palm trees. It doesn't sound like the best situation but its all what you make of it!
Since this is my first time there, are there any pay lots near by the theatre? Up here in Mass there are some lots right as you get off the highway where you have to pay to get into but they open earlier, are easier to get out of and are less strict with the rules. Any of that down there?

Sorry, but this venue is in the middle of nowhere adjacent to numerous business parks.......don't even think about trying to park in any lot other than the Lube. Not allowed. Won't work.......drewski wrote:Since this is my first time there, are there any pay lots near by the theatre? Ed, I think he may have been referring to the VIP lots at GW. They are generally closer to the highway and there is a charge to park in them.Bfan53again wrote:Sorry, but this venue is in the middle of nowhere adjacent to numerous business parks.......don't even think about trying to park in any lot other than the Lube. Re: Who's going to Bristow, VA September 1?
When I last checked there were alot of tickets still available. I was almost
tempted, even though I'll be at Camden just a few days earlier. After
seeing all that from the facebook site about tailgating, no way. Maybe
Jimmy will come back to Merriweather Post or find another site in VA.
Until then, forget it Jiffy Freaking Lube.

Here are the full tailgating rules:
2012 Jiffy Lube® Live Tailgating Policy
Tailgating is an important part of the concert experience for you the fan. We are committed to creating a SAFE environment that is fan friendly for all of our guests to enjoy. For most fans, tailgating is a time for listening to music while enjoying the company of friends and family. For your SAFETY and the enjoyment of all, we ask that you please help by observing these tailgating guidelines:
Jiffy Lube Live parking lots are reserved for concert patrons only.
Please be aware of your surroundings and make note of where you are parked. Please be careful and mindful of all vehicle traffic while in the parking lot especially while your row is being parked.
Parking is first come-first served. No saving of parking spaces is permitted.
Occupy only ONE parking space per vehicle.
Guests must tailgate in front of or behind their vehicle only. Tailgating at your vehicle should not interfere with the normal traffic flow. Please see the diagram below for an approved tailgating set up.
All tailgating activities must be conducted in accordance with Virginia State Law. Virginia State Law (4.1- 308 and 18.2-388) prohibits drinking in public and public intoxication. Underage drinking is prohibited by law and minors in possession will be addressed aggressively by Prince William County Police, Virginia ABC and JLL Staff.
Parking Lot Ambassadors will continuously patrol the lots to provide information (door times, show times, etc) and assistance and to ensure that guests comply with the established tailgating guidelines. This staff will be dressed in bright green uniforms with backpacks patrolling on both foot and bicycle. The Parking Lot Ambassadors will provide complimentary trash bags, sunscreen, set times and other valuable information to help you enjoy your concert experience.
Please be respectful of other guests. Guests who wish to report issues, concerns or to request assistance should speak with a Jiffy Lube Live Staff member or text 69050, then the word ASSIST, along with your issue and location. A JLL staff member will be dispatched to respond to your request.
Barbeque grills are allowed. All coals must be disposed of in designated coal containers located throughout the lots. Do not dump coals or store stoves on the grass, parking areas or under or around vehicles.
No tents or canopies will be allowed in order to keep the drive aisles clear for traffic flow and emergency vehicles.
All guests will be encouraged to enter the facility at the start of the advertised show time. For festivals, please check our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/jiffylubelive or call 703-754-6400 for event specific information.
Please clean up your tailgating area before entering the show. Bring trash bags with you to dispose of trash. Trash and recycling dumpsters will be placed throughout the parking lots, please refrain from leaving loose trash and litter in the parking areas. Parking Lot Ambassadors will have courtesy trash bags to pass out as guests enter the parking area.
Generally, the parking lots will open and tailgating will be allowed to start 2 hours prior to the door time, however, parking lot opening times may vary for some concerts. Please check our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/jiffylubelive or call 703-754-6400 for event specific times.
Tailgating will shut down 20 minutes after the start of the advertised show time. Guests will be asked to enter the show or leave the parking lot.
Tailgating is not allowed after the concert. All parking lots will be closed at the conclusion of egress.

Could it be??? Could it be yet a 2nd year in a row that this show will be affected by a Hurricane/T Storm???? Just on Accuweather and they are tracking a soon to be Tropical Storm. Saying it could very well hit FL Area early to mid next week, then go straight north!!!
Great. I didn't go last year b/c of tailgating rules. But scored the best seats we have ever had in 20 years of seeing Jimmy. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah are they owned by the venue so the same rules apply or are they independent so that you could have a canopy and tables?lime rickie wrote:

"The Lube" posted the parking times on their Facebook page today. Lots will open at 3:00, but no early entry. Canopies still will not be allowed, and your tailgate must only take up one parking space. I'm skipping this year!

Re: Who's going to Bristow, VA September 1?
If they are saying 3pm. Maybe that's just to get it in everyones head to not show up at 10am. Hopefully if the line starts forming, they will be forced to open up. I'm a longtime Camden goer, after awhile if they didn't open lots up earlier than they had said, the city would be in complete grd-lock. Never been to the "LUBE" is this the case, at this venue? I mean don't know what kind of area this place is in? Anyone have anything to add? Thanks. Still looking forward to my first show in Virg.
