Nashville 2012?
Hoping for a show at Bridgestone Arena again this year! From what I gathered, he was supposed to be doing Nashville for years to come once he built that Margaritaville. I'm hoping for May. It's been Saturday the last 2 years. The last weekend of May at the arena is completely open.

Unfortunately, it seems too late to add a May show. I'm holding out some hope for the summer, but I'm skeptical. Last year, the show was not sold out a couple of days before the show and they were still having to promote it. I'm worried that that will be enough reason not to make Nashville an annual stop.

Aside from the fun people we get to show up at the shows here, I'd rather skip Nashville and travel somewhere else to see him. I hate indoor venues and the "tailgating" gives me the sad.

The announcement they made a few weeks ago stated the new tour will start in May. If that's the case he definitely needs to announce the dates wherever they are. I used to go to Cincinnati every year to see him, but Nashville is much easier...especially being on a Saturday...even though the atmosphere is not as festive and the concert's inside.sigepmike wrote:Unfortunately, it seems too late to add a May show. i enjoy nashville because it's really close to me, but no tailgating and an indoor venue means i could care less if nashville gets a show or not.

Exactly. It was nice to have a show within walking distance of my apartment last year (literally), and the street party was fun, but it attracted a lot of non-concert goers and lead to a weird non-parrothead vibe. I've honestly never seen so many people not dressed up for a concert. Not to mention the only way to escape the sun and heat bouncing off the asphalt is to go into one of the extremely crowded bars. I still had fun, I'm not complaining about that, especially in a year where a lot of people didn't get a show at all, but I'd be happier if he came back once we got Starwood up and running again.BigR-KyParrothead wrote:i enjoy nashville because it's really close to me, but no tailgating and an indoor venue means i could care less if nashville gets a show or not.

That would be most cool.....I thought they were building condos on that site. They'd also better put down a BIG parking lot and allow tailgating.
I also noticed a weird non-parrothead vibe last year. The band didn't seem too Parrothead-y and the locusts didn't have tropical shirts on their little buzzing bodies.

Re: Nashville 2012?
I just looked it up again and it looks like the development talks have fallen through. All we have at the moment is The Fontanel, which is great, but it only seats about 8,000, I think. The development for the condos fell was put on hold when the economy tanked. The pictures I've seen of Starwood now are sad. Overgrown weeds, rubble and the stage are all that are left of that place. I have so many fantastic memories of that venue.citcat wrote:maid memories wrote:Exactly. I don't remember the band last year playing a single Buffett tune. However, I heard Living on a Prayer twice. The management at the M'ville here regularly schedules people to come in and play the same standards you hear at every other band up and down Broadway. There's rarely anything distinguishable about them, but the town is crawling with them so they can pay them on the cheap.
