This will be my first time to the MGM concert. Where is the pre show party held?

There's an alley next to Margaritaville they set up for a street party. It's gotten better every year I've gone.
It starts early and runs right up to the show starting. The MGM isn't that close so don't lose track of time.

The Margaritaville/Flamingo street party is a great time! Last year New York New York had a party as well, although not as big as the Margaritaville bash. Not sure if they will do this again this year.

Just what a newcomer wants to hear.
Meet us in the alley. Everything will be ok.

The parties in the alley are likely a thing of the past. That area is being redeveloped into the "Linq" project and will likely be fully torn up in October. My guess is that the Flamingo will hold a pre party in the pool area....but that's nothing but speculation. Perhaps the MGM will step back up and throw a decent pre party once again? It remains to be seen what the scene may be....but don't count on the alley for pre game phestivities this year.

I hadn't seen that but it looks like you're right. The MGM held pre parties by the pool years ago pre Margaritaville and they were so-so IMO. The fact that the alley party was right on the heart of the Strip made it more fun. Just like everything else it seems it gets good then gets taken away.

He is talking even before the pool. When they had them at their theme park. Frigging awesome.

We agree with FINSUPinIdaho, the parties at the old theme park were amazing. There was also a Mexican restaurant in the MGM called Ricardo's which had parrothead parties all weekend long.

Totally agree with all of the above- So very disappointed when Ricardo's closed

yep agreed with Fins and F&L above,
Pre-party was never better than the theme park years...how many years back now? 8?
You look at that area now, and see unfilled towers symbolizing the height of real estate greed.
The MGM pool parties and M'Ville alley have been fairly ridiculous venues, IMO

Standing around in a concrete hallway is about the least Parrothead-like thing I could imagine.
Adding a trop-rock band at one end just did not make it "an island"
My favorite pre-show hang more recently has been Hooters Hotel poolside bar
Throw in the band, and a cold ice chest in front of the bungalows, and you're practically tailgating again!

Since they blew up our alley way, how do we convince the Flamingo that they should have a party at thier pool???? Even with staying at the Flamingo i would still pay a cover charge for that

They did that in 2009 when the concert was in April....for the LMS party....I doubt they will open it again... MGM may open the pool up again as they had in the past
