Sonny's new CD hit the stores May 22nd. All instrumental (which is the way he should perform and record), with guest appearances by Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson and Robert Greenidge. Here is an excerpt from his Slidelines article regarding the NOLA Jazz Fest show:

Buffett’s roots resonate

"Working with Jimmy Buffett is always fun,” Sonny says, “but Jazz Fest this year was a standout gig since it was with a small ensemble and we played an all-acoustic set – well, except for a few songs he wanted me to blast with the electrics. Jimmy, Mac McAnally and I were on guitars, and for the first time some of the songs featured all three of us playing resonator-style guitars. That was cool. Jimmy also had the great Eric Darken on percussion so we could keep the grooves deep and still have a big, open sound. I think featuring his songs acoustically was also a fitting tip of the hat to Jimmy’s roots as a street musician in New Orleans. Like Mac said, ‘It's an important part of what got him here.’”
