Renting an apartment in Keys & finding a job

Hey there everyone! Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted on here! I'm seriously considering a move to the Keys- job search not going so well in Chitown, so figured I'm willing to take a job and a crappy apt to rent somewhere in the FL Keys. Does anyone know of anyone that could give me some advice on job search & apt search, other than the typical search engines? Thank you all!

Maybe check in with Jack (Popcorn Jack) and Lesley (MaidMemories).

I'm happy to help. I moved to Key West 10 weeks ago so I just got through the apartment/job bit. Where in the Keys are you looking to move and what do you do for work?

Haha. I think I was typing my reply as you were posting yours.

Plus, I have reflexes like a (drunken) cat.

Wow this was fast as hell! Tikibar texted me about Popcorn Jack as well! I've been in outside sales for about 10 years now. I've looked through the search engines and have found a few jobs with ClearChannel, etc... I have experience in online marketing, cell phone sales, among others. I would be willing to do anything though, as long as it would pay for rent and other basics. My wandering toes are telling me to join a crew on a boat and do whatever a guy with no experience can do to earn a few bucks!

I'm looking anywhere in the Keys really...Upper Keys would be nice to make it easier for visitors from the mainland but I'd be happy to be anywhere really

Check out Craigslist and http://keysnews.com. The Citizen has job postings for all of the Keys.

As far as apartments, I got lucky and found mine via Craigslist, but again, The Citizen has a classified section for that, too. I know it's a lot cheaper living farther up the Keys, but jobs are likely a little harder to come by. Plus, you can get by without driving down here, which is nice when you calculate the cost of it all.

Make sure to check with Jack, too. He's been around here a lot longer than me.

Maid Memories thank you so much:) If I don't get this job I'm hoping for (but kinda hoping I don't get), I'll pack all my stuff in my Albatross (4Runner haha) and head south til I merge onto A1A!

Cheers!
