Live In Las Vegas DVD/CD

Post by rmissbrook »

Has anyone gotten this yet? I ordered mine weeks ago from Amazon. It was supposed to have been delivered on Monday but it is lost somewhere in one of the local post offices. [smilie=grrrrrr.gif]

Yes, I got mine last week. Sound is good and the selections are out of the ordinary for a change. No Margaritaville, for instance.

Have not watched the DVD yet.

But why did they include BEG on both the discs? What a waste.

I"ve got it in right now. Really enjoying it. Good sound, nice visuals. And no complaints on the song selections. Seems like Jimmy, the band, and the crowd are all having a great time throughout. Very cool. :D

My set finally arrived on Friday after being lost in the netherland of the USPS for a week. I've watched the DVD and enjoyed it. One of my favorite spots is John Lovell's dance during "Gypsies." As far as I am concerned, any chance to see Jimmy performing live is well worth the price. I have not listened to the CD yet but am sure it will be fine.

I bought a copy of the regular (non BluRay) CD/DVD set this past weekend and thought the DVD was great and the bonus Elvis Presley Blues video was cool. I have not listened to the CD from start to finish yet but it sounds really good also.

One note of interest is that the tracks on the CD and DVD do not match completely. The songs Pencil Thin Mustache, Grapefruit Juicy Fruit, and School Boy Heart are on the CD but not on the DVD. The DVD includes the songs Back Where I Come From, Knee Deep, Defying Gravity and the bonus song/video Elvis Presley Blues.

:D :D

I've watched the DVD one time so far, but have not seen the Elvis Presley Blues song. Must be under special features or something.

My copy arrived yesterday (on my birthday)
I listened to the CD and its great. Watched some of the DVD. Elvis Presley blues is a bonus feature and I thought it was excellent.
I will watch the rest over the weekend.

On the DVD's main menu there is an option called "Bonus" click that and you will be able see both the "Elvis Presley Blues" video and another little video of Jimmy talking about the place he first played in Las Vegas back in the 70's.

Anyone have any idea if you can get the shorts Jimmy was wearing during the concert. They are blue with yellow skull and crossbones. Thanks for any and all info and Fins Up!

I like it, and really like the fact that you can get the cd/dvd (or cd/blu-ray) together. My wife is a big Duran Duran fan, and they just put out a live cd / dvd / blu-ray (A Diamond in the Mind), but the cd is sold seperate from the video, so if you want the cd and dvd, you have to make two purchases. Not cool DD.

What I would LOVE to see if the same format used for Live By The Bay. A cd/dvd or cd/blu-ray combo would make my millenium (my poor VHS copy stands proudly on the shelf next to the cds, but with nothing to play it on!).

I would like a DVD set of Live By The Bay and Tales from Margaritavision both of which have yet to be released in DVD format. Although Live By The Bay was released on a Laser Disc in the early 1990's.

Since Live By the Bay and Tales From Margaritavision have yet to get the DVD treatment I kind of get the impression they never will. Just like we'll most likely never see deluxe reissues from his back catalog or the archival recordings he planned to release last year called Buried Treasure.

Jimmy doesn't always come through with his "promises"......... :o

Remember a while back where each concert was to feature songs from a specific album? Thought that was a great idea......died on the vine.
