Come to the conclusion Jimmy doesn't really like the West Coast or West Coast Venue's or People... Not happening except Vegas..... Kind of sad, because Boise would be a great Venue and a Sell Out Crowd... Why he doesn't perform in Boise is a question that goes unanswered...... [smilie=beadygrinner.gif]

I think the Idaho Center has an outdoor venue that some big acts have performed at... So does the Sandy Beach area, and of course there's Anne Morrison Park that handled 1,000's during the River Festival....Not to mention the Blue Turf...... Of course if not Boise, there's always the Gorge in Washington.....It would at least be within driving distance from Boise.... How about Portland, Seattle?....Jackpot, Nevada...... The Airport in Donnelly, Idaho.... Got all kinds of locations, just need a show...... [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

DISCLAIMER I did say earlier in the year that IF there was a chance of me sleeping in my own bed it would be this year)

OK let's approach this as business men.
first the promoters in this town are bush league. also most of this tours Dates (if not all) are live nation Venues.. pretty sure that nowhere in Boise is such
second. on the Venues . the Idaho center?? I pray you mean after they get some fixed bathrooms (the odor of the Port-a-Johns is not pleasant)
AND more vendors AND BTW.. some pros in the Security Dept.. (they are a law suit waiting to happen)
they do have a great sized Parking lot :pirate:
the Blue turf? UHHHHH really?? let's go there not even close to enough parking. last I heard they don't sell beer inside.. which presents quite problems, also if they did agree to sell Beer (and other festive drinks) they would be just like Taco Bell Arena.. too few stands with too few people to quench the thirst of the Parrothead nation. the lines s*** for the events they have now.. I haven't been to the Blue Turf in years and so don't remember the Bathroom situation
BSU itself.. not a professional bone in the body of either the will call, or the security (another Lawsuit waiting in the wings)
this to add to the fact that liquor laws near the campus are not what we should call parrothead friendly
this added to the cost of bring the Circus to town pretty much brings this wish to a halt
also the ticket situation?? I did not even move to Boise until 1996. and at one time I had ins with every venue in this town I could get 4th row or less
tix to any event I wanted. that has since passed as my contacts have moved on. BUT if I have the pholks lined up think of what
other people in town have (can you say ticket shortage?) Followed by tons of tix on stub-hub, Ebay, ET AL
Portland? that would be fun. Seattle fun also. the Gorge? major cool but again the $$ to bring the circus to town is not worth the gain

and so. I jump on an airplane and visit the PH nation as often as I can

and to be clear on the Security issues.. let's look at this from the real world view

in both the Idaho Center and on Campus I have been either turned away or given grief for taking a backpack in..(cute tiny little thing)
all the while the ladies are parading by with bags
I was told.. " they are female that makes it Different"

can you say ACLU??

Its about venue $$$$$. I go to a bunch of MLB baseball games (Oakland!!) and they allow coolers with no solid walls (ie those flexible lunch container things you get at target) food, water, etc. Essentially anything not glass or metal or booze. Hell we had beerfest over here the other night, and the people I was with brought an entire mexican Buffett in. So when you talk about concerts and their rules, its all about making cash.

UH no this was (is ) not a money issue.. they will not let MEN in with backpacks
I had a tshirt and shot glass in the backpck on one trip (they let me in but warned me not to bring it in next time)
and my camera in the other trip. (they let me in with the Camera but I had to take the Back pack to the car)

and yep Candlestick had a very liberal policy also..
:) :) :) :) :) I know of someone who in the late seventys got in to a Giants game with a whole keg..

no names

well, have you SEEN the requirements jimmy demands for each show he performs at? lavish spreads of food and drink with incredible restrictions. idaho may not be able to provide all the things jimmy demands.... like hawaiian luau chocolate almonds . . .
2nd, he wont even perform in irvine anymore so the chances of him going somewhere else in the west are better if he even elects to do the west coast at all. irvine is a great venue for his show but ive heard he has problems with the management here.
business is business, but it seems people are more interested in strutting their 'leverage' as status symbols these days rather than providing what/where it sells. it's all about exerting influence. i was naive to think jimmy really just wanted to play for his fans and in return reaped the reward of the sales.
i had been to a buffett show EVERY YEAR (some years, multiple shows), as have many of you, for 13 years. then he stopped playing in irvine. even the year(s) he played in anaheim instead of irvine. but now it has just stopped. he will only do san diego now and those are on thursdays as he gives vegas his saturday shows. it's a different world these days and jimmy certainly has earned his 'right' to play where ever he wants or 'exert his influence' where ever/however he chooses but his fans miss out. we are the pawns of these political/business decisions. i wish we could just continue having our shows like we had "in the old days", even it isnt two shows like it was. thursday in irvine is better than none at all . . . .

I just think when you've been around as much as Jimmy has, your much less inclined to deal with BS. Plus he's getting older, wants to stay home and relax more probably.

Besides, Jimmy *was* just in CA back in March. Based on past history, odds are he won't be back until at least next March.

Though I've been wrong before.
