Hi, does anyone remember a concert from 4th of July, 1979 0r 1980 that was broadcast live on various radio stations throughout the country?
It marked the debut of some of the Coconut Telegraph songs, including 'Growing older but not up". It was a wonderful concert with a 4th of July bent to 'Gods Own Drunk', I was wondering if anyone had any recordings of it. Believe it or not, I had an 8-track recording of it but it has disappeared over the years.
If anyone has any memories of this concert please let me know!
Thanks

I do not recall that event, but according to the Set List Database right here on BN, Jimmy played in Minneapolis on July 4, 1980. It was the "Hot Dog and a Roadmap Tour."
Both the songs you mentioned were featured prominently.

I'd try sending a pm to the member known as urlcenter. If anyone knows, he would.

In all likelihood it is the Minneapolis July 4, 1980 which can be found downloaded from Jokelben:

The song DB her at BN shows this show as the debut of Growing Older But Not UP

Gave a few a listen and sounds good. Old Jimmy just as I like him. Wish he'd play, Wonder Why We Ever Go Home.
Btw, number 18 isn't Dixie Diner, it is Treat Her Like A Lady.

It was my first look baby that's all it took

Wow! Many, many thanks! I wasn't sure if it was the one I remembered until Jimmy went off on 'All my Children' in the middle of 'Gods own Drunk'. Exactly what I remembered.
I remember that this concert was supposed to be broadcast all over live on the 4th, but there was a technical problem (it was 1980 remember) and they didn't play the concert on WMMR in Philly (or was it IOQ?) until a few days later. That was still almost live for 1980.....
Thanks again, I had such great memories of that concert, I didn't think I'd ever hear it again.
