Audio And Video From Legendary 2007 Concert
To Be Available In Multiple Configurations On November 19

Concert Slated For Global Theatrical Release On October 17

(Los Angeles, Sept. 13, 2012) – On December 10, 2007, Led Zeppelin took the stage at London’s O2 Arena to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band’s signature blues-infused rock ’n’ roll that instantly became part of the legend of Led Zeppelin. Founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, to perform 16 songs from their celebrated catalog including landmark tracks “Whole Lotta Love,” “Rock And Roll,” “Kashmir,” and “Stairway To Heaven.”

Although 20 million people applied for tickets, the band’s first headline show in 27 years was seen only by the 18,000 ticket holders who were fortunate enough to have secured seats through the worldwide lottery.

The film of Celebration Day will see a worldwide theatrical release by Omniverse Vision on 1,500 screens in over 40 territories on October 17. The theatrical screenings will follow premieres in London, Los Angeles, New York, and other major cities. Tickets for the public screenings will be available on September 13 via ledzeppelin.com.

Celebration Day will then be available in multiple video and audio formats on November 19 from Swan Song/Atlantic Records. Specific product details will be announced soon.

For those that may be interested, more details about the upcoming DVD/CD were revealed today along with a press conference from Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. I'm not sure why Jason Bonham wasn't there even though he played at the reunion concert at the O2 arena back in 2007. A new teaser from the concert film was also unveiled today (which you can watch below).

Never got to see Zep though I certainly had a few opportunities to back in the 70's, most notably when they played Greensboro in '77. In the years since I've seen Plant three times and drove to Atlanta in '95 to see Page & Plant at the Omni, probably the closest I'll ever come to seeing Led Zeppelin. I admire them greatly, mainly for the respect they've shown their fallen comrade John Bonham by never regrouping for a full fledged reunion tour. Lots of bands could learn a thing or two from them for that.

By the way, here's complete coverage of yesterday's press conference:

C'mon now.......the Page & Plant tours were essentially a Zeppelin show minus the bombastic drum solos/intros & the title of "Zeppelin in Concert" on the marquee.
Although I guess I see your point as they didn't go out and "Market" the Zep brand on the tour.
Okay, I hear where you're coming from.............back to regular scheduled programming!

I too was at those Page & Plant tours for the "No Quarter" tour..... Fricking great from what I remember, which really wasn't much because I was in the same mindset as I would have been if it had been the 70s. Though me and my boss at work at the time both had a few entries into the raffle for the 02 show. Too bad we never got picked. I will be picking that up when it comes available

I saw Celebration Day at a local IMAX theatre a couple of weeks ago. It was mindblowingly good, looking very forward to the CD/DVD myself along with the bonus material which includes footage of the Shepperton rehearsals.

I wanted to go, but the theaters near me didn't work out for me....... Last time I went to one of those "concert" showings.... was a "supposed" live performance.. a 3 hour show, but they only showed 90 mins of it.

Celebration Day runs just over 2 hours (as will the DVD, CD, Vinyl, Blu-Ray, etc.) and they showed every last second of it at the IMAX theatre where I saw it. It was only being shown in limited release so most places only got it on October 17th and 18th. I'm very glad I went. I went to a later showing so I'm sure the crowds were thinner than the early evening screening. Still, a whole lot of fun and sort of a reminder of the days when movies like The Song Remains the Same were a huge part of midnight movies, though this one is completely free of any sort of fantasy sequences, it's all about the rock.

Which is a reason why I will buy it. Love Song Remains The Same, but the fantasy sequences make me want to smoke a good bowl of stuff I can't afford anymore

Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant on The Late Show with David Letterman last night:

The night before, Page, Plant and Jones (as well as Letterman and others) took part in the Kennedy Center Honors at the White House. The Kennedy Center Honors special will air on CBS on December 26th. The Honors closed with a musical segment featuring the Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart performing several Zeppelin tunes that also included a salute to John Bonham with a surprise appearance from his son, Jason. You can read more about that here.
